www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12631969/Kate-Middletons-parents-targeted-poster-hate-campaign-collapse-family-business-Party-Pieces.html#comments Kate Middleton's parents have been targeted in a malicious poster campaign over the collapse of the family's party business, it was reported last night.
Messages were posted on lampposts and trees around the couple's home village of Bucklebury in Berkshire, where they have lived for several decades.
Kate's brother, James, 36, who lives nearby with his pregnant French wife Alizee, 33, was said to have been enraged by the posters, and was reportedly seen tearing them down.
Suppliers have been left out of pocket by the closure of Party Pieces, which was sold by Kate's mother Carole, 68, and father Michael, 74, shortly before it went bust earlier this year.
The creditors have been calling on the couple to pay the outstanding sums out of their own pockets.
A source told The Sun on Sunday at the shock felt by villagers over the attacks targeted at the couple. 'It's unfair to do this in their home village, just yards from where they live,' they added.
Party Pieces folded in the summer with £2.6 million of debts.
The firm was started by the Middletons in 1987, selling decorations and party paraphernalia for children's events from catalogues.
Its business model was transformed by the internet revolution of the 1990s, which allowed the Party Pieces website to begin selling products to customers at home and abroad.

They don't have a legal obligation to pay, but I think they have a mor@l obligation to pay. I believe they still own their other house so that could be sold to pay the creditors or their two incredibly wealthy sons-in-law could help them. They seem to have kept an incredibly low profile since the company went under and they didn't make their customary appearance at Wimbledon this year.

It's simple business. The pre sale due diligence will have identified all debtors and monies due, and the purchasers will have bought the company knowing it had debt. When you buy a company, you buy it's debt or it's cash, depending upon which it has. Therefore these are not the Middleton's bills to pay. If you understand business you'd understand this.

2.6 million is not small change, clearly this shows poor business management and they should be liable for that as them not paying their bills puts other businesses out of business. If they have personal assets worth millions then they could clearly sell and downsize and pay off their debts

Our laws on insolvency of Companies are a disgrace,Directors can just walk away leaving a trail of debts, then start fresh company without any liabilities the very next day.

When you are owed money by people who seemingly are not affected in their own way of life, that seems unfair as well does it not?

Legally they don't have to pay the creditors, but mor@lly, with all the wealth they have they should pay up.

Legally they have to pay nothing. But suppliers were certainly lulled into a false sense of security that they were dealing with the PoWs Mum and so probably eased off on due diligence. So the Middletons probably have some mor@l responsibility to cover some of the suppliers' losses.

It doesn't reflect on Kate, but I imagine it will be worrying for her. How damaging the pandemic was to everyones' lives and so many businesses. Yet shamefully, some made millions off the back of it all.

When companies go bust it should always be down to the owners whoever they are to make sure that monies owed to people are payed.

The business went under after they sold to someone else. Why doesn't the current owner pay the bills?? Doesn't even make sense!

This is horrific. Imagine if Fergie had been in Kate's position; she would have been crucified and so would her family and second, William will not bail this family out for the millionth time. This reflects badly on Kate since it is because of her marriage that her family is getting away with this.

It is horrific, but GREAT that people are blowing up about this, too. lol Can just see stupid idiot James running out and ripping down posters... classic! No pity for that fool and the rest of his shoddy family. A family of grifters/vipers/traitors, IMO.

Even if Charles does nothing, it does not mean that Kate is off the hook with William; lately he has been trying to get taken seriously and it is clear that he can't stand not just Kate, but her family and now her family is making this mess. Not just the public humiliation of leaving debtors high and dry, but it is clear that it is all over the town and all over the press and her family contains a brother that is making a fool of himself for the millionth time.

No, Kate is not off the hook with William - you are so right about that! William will never be able to throw the weight of Kate and the Middletons off him. HE is responsible for dragging them in or allowing them to continue what they have done for ages. He wants to be taken seriously? Sure, but there is the damage that he and they have wrought that can probably never be undone or atoned for. I get the feeling that Charles is putting some kind of heat on William to step up, but he wants his own glory without the Middletons. Too bad, Bill - they will always be a weight around your neck.

I get the feeling that Charles is putting some kind of heat on William to step up, but he wants his own glory without the Middletons. Too bad, Bill - they will always be a weight around your neck. The difference between William and the average man is that William had every warning and had MI6 telling him everything he needed to know. As for Kate, he is going to make her pay for this and who knows what else. In defense of William, he gave them favors and breaks and they blew it all and now his MIL is exposed as a dishonorable business cheat and surely he will not at all be able to go anywhere with this on his neck. Men in their forties are different than men in their 20's and if Kate had had any kind of brain, she would have been smart enough to know this. After another year is over, he will likely try to shove her out, the opinions of other people be damned. He can't go to business events and have a wife whose family is cheating suppliers. King Charles will not be able to stop William and neither will the press. Even if William leaves Kate, there is no going back to his status before he put that ring on that woman's finger.
