Prince William will be supported by Kate’s family at Philip’s funeral

The 39-year-old Duchess of Cambridge’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are due to attend the service for the Duke of Edinburgh, who died at age 99 on Friday.



The 38-year-old heir to the British throne — who has been taking on more and more responsibilities in the royal family in recent years — has long adored his in-laws.

A royal source revealed that the Middletons have also grown close to Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, saying: “They really are all good friends.”

I think this will actually happen and when it does, William will lose what little goodwill from the establishment that he has left. HM NEEDS support, not William and I think this is something of a complete and new low that will never be fixed, of that I am sure. What do you guys think? HM just lost her life partner and soulmate and now WILLIAM is the one who needs supporting? You can't make this up. If William gets the Midds in on that funeral and it is turned into yet another society event to show that the Midds have 'made it,' I sincerely hope that William is just cut loose. This is just unforgivable. HM neither wants or NEEDS the Midds around and in all honesty this is just too much. If just for once, the Midds would stop trying to be part of something, that would in itself be a relief. Is there a reason the Midds can't see that there is no place for them?

William just keeps going lower and lower. I have no words for what a pathetic move this is. I wonder who isnt going to make up for this? Some aging close relation? Some long-standing and trusted friend? A loyal and long serving aide or government official? Sick vipers.

My wish is that we never see her or her lot ever again.

The Middletons remain tacky as well. Did the Spencer’s ever act like this? I seem to think they didn’t.

Nic919. Spencers were part of the aristocracy. Diana’s father was equerry to both George VI and QEII. Diana’s maternal grandmother, Lady Fermoy, was lady in waiting to Queen Mother. They were already ‘in’ and didn’t have to claw their way.

They did, but in an entirely different way that is specific to their status. But the Spencers had always been hella thirsty from the get go, with tons of family pride to go on top of that when it suited them. They keep it low key compared to the Middletons, but I remember Diana’s father giving a super cringe interview talking about how he is so proud of his daughter marrying Charles, and that he considers his daughter’s marriage into the RF as one of his biggest acts of service to the Queen. That is pretty cringe in a wholly different way, but it’s still cringe.

All of the aristocratic families, up until Diana divorced, plot and scheme to place themselves higher up in the pecking order, and anyone who says they don’t is fooling the crowd. Louis Mountbatten was Philip’s stage parent before Carole was a twinkle in anyone’s eye. Everything he did was the definition of thirsty–he tried to get the RF to change their last name to his, for crying out loud. Queen Mary, Elizabeth’s grandmother, was also from the poorer relations, with a perennially thirsty mother with a spending habit that they were on the run from creditors from.

Social climbing is the norm for these people, particularly aristocrats, who always want to get to a place above their own station in life. What’s different when the aristocrats do it is that, while they offer the token insistence that they don’t see class, that they are just an ordinary family blah blah blah, they don’t care if anyone believes it or not. It’s just lip service. The Middletons tried to capitalize on the idea that they are different from that set, to wedge their way in. It’s that discrepancy that people can’t stand, tbh.

This is such a sidebar but when reporters call Will “the heir to the throne” I always want to cringe. Charles is the heir to the throne; William is *his* heir, second in line. For a nation so obsessed with medieval hierarchical protocols, they sure love to vault ahead of themselves when it suits them.

Also when they refer to Will as the future king, while that will probably be the case of course, it’s getting way ahead of things as they are. How arrogant and insensitive do you have to be to want to be described as “the future king” when your father and grandmother are BOTH still alive? They are elderly, yes, but very much present. I’m assuming Will or his team are briefing these reporters … but who knows.

This is just one more article to the mountain telling us how William cannot function as an adult. He desperately clings to Carole like a toddler and she indulges.
It also sounds like another of many where the Middleton family is trying to insert themselves into more royal life. And Will is too stupid or naive to see how bad this is for the monarchy and him.

When the press turns on the Midds (and they will) this will be a marker.

Also, loving the detail where they had to NAME EACH AND EVERY MIDDLETON SPECIFICALLY. As if we don’t all know who they mean when they say “Middletons.” No no, we have to get the names too, to make sure that everyone knows that William and Kate have all of these exact SIX PEOPLE at hand to be there for their support. No one else ya’ll. Just those six people. And remember, all of the Middletons, including Carole, Mike, Pippa, her husband terribly moderately wealthy James Matthews, James Middleton and his fiance Alizee, are such a grounded happy family. Just in case you didn’t get that memo about Carole, Mike, Pippa, her husband terribly moderately wealthy James Matthews, James Middleton (who is related to Mike and Carole Middleton) and his fiancee Alizee.

The most hilarous for me is that "midds and Charles and Camilla are really good friends". The BS level is critical.
