Willy Boy and His Potato Head cannot function without scapegoating someone. This tells you how insecure, weak and unintelligent they are. I bet when H and M left they had a major breakdown. And I hope this has caused them lots of angst and worry. It certainly showed the world what the pair was all about. EXACTLY! 2020 has showed me that the Golden couple aren’t golden at all. Interesting isn’t it. I don’t se show it can get better. They have been exposed. The whole firm has!

I think that we are about to watch the House of Windsor start going from filled with drama to filled with chaos. All this shifting around has made the entire dynasty unstable and it is clear that the royals are unable to pull themselves together and HM is unwilling to pull her family in line. It is also clear that something big is happening and it is clear that none of the royals are facing the realities that there is going to be trouble if they do not stop this petty infighting.
She's not going to bring them into line, I don't think - maybe at 94 she's just fully fed up and/or not going to change now. But...she had decades of chances. No wonder she gravitates towards Sophie and Edward, though - probably the only one of the kids and in-laws not privately or publically embarrassing the family and causing it stress. William and Kate NEED to set themselves up against somebody, so beyond the social media tit for tat with the Sussexes, it may be the Wessexes. A truly united, committed family unit. I think we may be seeing some very "interesting" stories in the New Year.
Not just the Windsors, but Europe's royal dynasties are going to end up in serious trouble and will be put on trial. I find it mind boggling that none of them are just staying inside the palaces and chilling out, but instead INSIST on jet setting and disrupting everyone's work schedule with asinine video conferences (Queen Maxima Glutenous) and shrieking about being criticized for being overweight (Catharina-Amalia who is upset about body shaming and she might want to cut down on the champagne and caviar) and then the recent ranting about climate change (that is really not a prioritized focus) is just not what everyone needs right now. If the royals of Europe were paying for food and successfully negotiating with politicians to push through rent coverage to prevent evictions/homelessness, that would mean more than anything and would prove that the royals can be relied on to HELP and sustain during something like this. But they aren't and this will be remembered. They will not be able to say that they helped and they will not be able to say that they were able to end up with credibility. Once royals start trying ot take credit for recovery or the work of doctors/nurses, and others who helped (and also paid the ultimate price), there will be a huge backlash.

I honestly hope that from here on out, for a while at least, royals do not try to take all the credit for the hard work of the nurses/doctors who dedicated so much of themselves and also the scientists who managed to create vaccines on such short notice and horrible pressure.

I can guarantee you that they will do that. They have no other choice then to latch onto the people who actually did something, because the royals didn’t do anything at all. If they don’t do that, they will simply confirm that they are are utterly irrelevant.

It will be interesting to see if the politicians put up with BS from royals mainly since politicians will have to work at rebuilding the economy, dealing with a traumatized populace, and somehow leading their nations through. Few will have energy or patience to put up with asinine teleconferences, or put up with headlines that lower their self esteem (CUT DOWN ON THE CHAMPAGNE AND CAVIAR CATHARINA!) and global warming will not at all be a main focus. Then there is the struggle to make sure that people get intense psychotherapy and then there will be the fact that watching a bunch of royals dressed in taxpayer supported couture/ancestral jewels waltz around being condescending towards the medical personnel that did all the WORK trying to save lives will be galling to say the least. I was watching "The Wife" (brilliant film) and I watched a few clips of actual Nobel ceremonial, and I found it galling that despite being surrounded by some of the most brilliant minds in the world, royals are still complete airheads. Still brainless enough to really think they should be anything other than in complete charge of running countries. If I had access to those kinds of minds, I would hang with them all day and not run with celebs or groupies.

Am I the only one who thinks the BRF will be the first to fall? After The Queen none of the royals seem like they are enough to sustain the whole thing. Many Commonwealth countries will leave, possibly Scotland, NI, and Wales leaving, they are out of the EU as well.

I think the BRF will be hardest hit. They have no real anything to literally back them up and I am certain that politicians are FED UP with their chaos (that politicians have to deal with in addition to their usual responsibilities) and also the fact that they are violating that unwritten agreement that they maintain stability and continuity and then there is the fact that IF this pandemic ever ceases, there is going to be a TON of work needed to be done and no one is going to be in the mood for their meddling, or watching them go back to enjoying lavish vacations, and then there is the fact that one one is n the mood for their asinine spouting and then there is the fact that a lot of people are tired of paying for these people and getting nothing but condescension in return. The BRF epitomizes all these issues and at some point, there will be breaking point. HM is the last bulwark, but she can't live forever. There is no way that the BRF can sustain itself and they are all out of control. Instead of instilling order, the politicians might just dismantle the system.

I agree The Queen is the glue that is keeping it together and Harry was the one to continue it but you know... After the pandemic people aren’t going to enjoy the royals and their spouting and honestly wasting many people time. They didn’t show there selves approved during the pandemic but only zoom calls and a horrible COVID tour. What do they have to offer? It’s what I said in the other thread that Diana made them who they are but once she died they no longer have the popularity and star power they had with Diana even with Will and Kates wedding but look at how they turned out.

Prince Philip just entered the hospital and I think this might be the end for him. I think HM is seeing her entire former grip unravel and the system itself can't be fixed since all this is happening because of the bad behavior of her family. If Philip goes, HM won't be far behind and I am certain that it'll all go downhill very fast. I think 2021 will be a turning point, a point of no return and it will not be good for the reigning royals of Europe. I do not think that there will ever really be any chance of these royals actually getting back on any real track. No one has any energy for their antics anymore and it's not like anyone can afford anything anymore, much less millions of Euros' worth of luxury for these titled nitwits.

He's in his 100th year...he doesn't come from relations who were particularly long-lived (with a few exceptions). It would be a shame he went out on this note, what with the antics of Andrew, the Cambridges, and to a lesser extent, the Sussexes. He's the mainstay for HM and his loss would leave her basically on her own. I think he deserves better than this - he was born in a time of strife/revolution and he may die with strife hanging over his family.

He made huge sacrifices; he was also likely under horrific pressure to marry the then Princess Elizabeth. HM loved him, but I wonder just how much he wanted to give up his naval career and do all that he did. With the strife being what it is, I believe that at this point in time, he can't cope anymore and he will die, Fergie will push her way back in (the remarriage will be entertaining) and HM will be run completely over. Even Charles will push for more for Camilla. HM can't hold her own with all of them and even Sophie will grub for favors.

I felt it in 2020 and the ball is going to roll in 2021. I think with the pandemic the world is forever changed. The royals can’t function the way it used to and travels will be limited and people won’t have the patience to cater to them. I think the downfall of the monarchy will start with the BRF. Who would have thought the largest monarchy would go out first. Shows that not everything in life is guaranteed.

The pandemic could have been the best possible time for royals to rise to the occasion and also show their worth, but they blew it. The Netherlands, they partied and jet setted while the Spanish royals went to Mallorca and had fun there. Prince Christian was not quarantined and contracted COVID and ended up getting sick and that was a huge misstep. He NEVER should have been in school anyway and it is clear that all of them are still partying. The others are worse than useless and unable to do ANYTHING. They do not even write checks to buy supplies and this is just beyond the pale of pointlessness. If the Dutch royals were to write checks wiping out the loan debt of medical workers, the PR would be priceless and there would be little by way of obstacles. IF HM had written checks for the medics then that would have been excellent publicity and made a concrete difference. Something that mattered. Speeches are pointless and useless. Royals have been tested and have come up short and have proven to be of no help or use at all. Sipping champagne while wearing finery is such an irrevocable slap in the face.
Quite honestly, if they were not so expensive, it would be different. Their allowances should be commensurate with their duties to their nation. Like a literal public servant. If they fulfill a certain amount, they get a certain amount of cash, plus an expense account to handle certain extras like travel and good enough clothes. No one would mind if they actually had a concrete position with a clear outlined standard of conduct and boundaries and expectations. It's not affordable anymore. Their appearances should not require fresh designer/couture and should NOT need private jets and they should NOT at all get away with frequent vacations with taxpayer protection. There have to be new lines and new boundaries and consequences if lines are crossed. If William had been required to sign a contract at eighteen that included clauses about duties and stuff like that, it would have been hugely different. He would have had concrete expectations and he might have turned out to be a different person. The problem has been this pressure to combine a 9-5 family structure with the privilege/power of royals and it just does not work.

I think boundaries will be set once Covid subsides. I agree the pandemic was the time for the royals to truly step up and show us they are worth it but they all fumbled it. They are nothing but glorified figurheads. They could have donated, donated food, could have helped with NHS. Anything really not dumb Zoom calls and disastrous COVID tours. What a mess!
I think peoples eyes have been opened.

I think the real issue is this addiction to grandeur and the belief that with the titles, HAS to come grandeur, but let's be honest, the real mentality is the "McMansion" mindset that so many of them have. They literally view a huge palatial estate as a 'house' or 'cottage' and regrettably do not think of this as enough. Sophie Wessex once said that she didn't have a Duchy of Cornwall to Prince Charles and it shows that her sense of proportion does not exist at all. Bagshot Park is not some single wide trailer. Royals these days apparently cannot function in a situation where they are living highly comfortably and I remember reading how Fergie didn't think that Andrew made enough for a royal lifestyle. That is the biggest problem, this belief that a lifestyle should come with a title. That someone a royal is not at royal without multiple palaces, dozens of castles, and limitless manor houses that all bring in millions and royals do not have to do anything other than be born. It's just too much. It used to be that if one was born a princess, the princess would marry a foreign heir or foreign prince and end up Queen Consort and on the hands of that country. These days there are princes and princesses who do not leave, but at the same time, are not able to adjust to maybe an actual profession and are as a result, out on a confused limb. Princess Anne lives very well for someone far down the line and quite frankly, her kids are profiting like crazy from the blood link and for some reason are not groomed for trades and a concrete profession. The York princesses should have been ordered into the trades and gotten business/financial qualifications and if they wanted to go into royal service, they could have been told that they would be welcome to become courtiers. Regrettably, the BRF and others like them are unable and unwilling to retrench and maybe just stop 'being' and start 'working'. Being a princess doesn't mean they are entitled to a lavish life or silly token 'jobs' that are actually well disguised sinecures. I believe that it's frustrating for a lot of people that the royals insist on being above everyone, but the royals stand on the shoulders of those who are doing the work and don't contribute, but INSIST on looking down on those who do the work and do the heavy lifting, along with carrying their backsides through life. Bad form to look down on those who pay the bills.

- APPLAUSE! The need to be grandeur and be above the common man is quite frankly outdated and ignorant. Those days are gone and since COVID there’s been a pushback for all things that are status/privileges/wealthy. They don’t work so why live a lavish lifestyle and the worst part is they live off taxpayers money. I understand if the royal/principality are wealthy they can do what they want but many of these royal houses are cash poor.
For me the first that will be on its knees is BRF after The Queen, sadly Spain and possibly Belgium(love them but they aren’t needed).

What irritates me, is how this won't just be an issue about moving the economy along, but an entirely new economy will have to be literally rebuilt from the ground up and that will take insanely hard work. Plus cold hard cash. No one will want to play to the royal's delusional sense of importance and it is clear that no one will want, say, Queen Maxima trying to insert herself into conferences where there have to be talks about the kind of structure that the economy of the Netherlands will have to take in order to remain stable and if any kind of aid should be given to other countries. There could also be hostility if Queen Letizia wanted to insert herself into conferences about where any kind of fresh infusion of money could go, or where it will come from. It's not like there will be any tax-money to be had since pretty much every business has crashed in one form or another and it is clear that it will take a TON of work and long hours to figure out the foundation, much less the growth of any economy. No one will want to let Maxima play at being ecnomic specialist and no one will want to let the other royals pantomime at being insiders at the real conferences.
No one would care about their titles or way of life if they did not insist on pushing everyone take care of them, while paying all their attention to them, like a child. William never stops reminding everyone that he is future king, but he does nothing to prepare for it and he just does NOT get off of everyone's neck and get to doing what he is supposed to be doing. He insists on deference and respect, but he does not DO ANYTHING to set himself above people. I cannot imagine how enraging it is to have someone's tax money go to someone else's plush schooling, while the one who actually WORKS AND PAYS the bills struggles to get his kid into a safe school, much less one with the amenities that a royal takes for granted. These royals keep insisting on grandeur, but they do not stay within bounds, but insist on everyone getting out of their way, as if the world should either get out of their way or drop everything to cater to them. After everything they have been given, right when it is the best time to give back, they do nothing. William just never stops demanding more press and respect and attention and the other world's royals are the same.
I understand if the royal/principality are wealthy they can do what they want
Everything they have comes from the taxpayers and I am sick and tired of reading about their independent wealth, as if they ever worked so hard that they could afford to buy and maintain these palaces and everything that goes with that title. It's not like the Crown Princess of Sweden could have possibly afforded her lavish wedding or couture gown out of the 'hard work' that she does. I am sick and tired of hearing about how William talks about his inheritance, as if his mother had been a successful business specialist. That money is tax money, not William's own private fortune. There is no way that Diana could have honestly ended up earning tens of millions of pounds as a teen dropout as a teenager before marrying Charles. After Diana died, her money should have been divvied up to the various charities she was patron of and William and Harry should not have had the ability to inherit anything since they were already phenomenally well taken care of as royal princes with one as a future king. Neither were going to starve and realistically, neither William or Harry needed any money at all.
