Obviously her children were fortunate enough to marry good looking people. Serena Linley is beautiful and Daniel Chatto has refined features. Hence beautiful grandchildren for Margaret. Her husband was most unfortunate looking and a horrid human being.

I find it regrettable that Margaret never really reached outside of the UK; surely there was a French prince somewhere, who would be happy to convert to Protestantism and be a fun, sophisticated consort. Or a Romanov prince, that would have been dashing and as an Orthodox, no conflict in terms of the issue of Catholicism.

Or a Romanov prince, that would have been dashing and as an Orthodox, no conflict in terms of the issue of Catholicism. It probably would have ended up worse. Being a in foreign country, or a Queen Consort!, would have just been another reason to fail. Margaret was remarkably stupid. Her children were ugly, because she was quite ugly herself. She just looked a bit better due to her ugly mother and sister.

Had no time for Margaret, she was a vain and pompous alcoholic. She was rude and more haughty than The Queen. Margaret had no wish to leave the UK. Tony was a rotter too. Her son is the one at the middle of the s x scandal ... he likes men. Sarah is the only decent one.

But now the real Colin Tennant, 3rd Lord Glenconner, has been exposed — by his long-suffering wife, Anne, best friend of the Queen’s late sister.
Lady Glenconner, who was a maid of honour at the Queen’s Coronation, has revealed that her husband was a cruel wife-beater who attacked her so badly she was left permanently disabled.

One of the most pampered women in the world. I sincerely think however that "The Crown" does depict a far more better Margaret. She did put her sister's wishes first and I support how Margaret ended up being robbed of any discernible role. She never should have lost her Councilor of State status and she never should have been as marginalized as she was. It was wrong to shove her to the side and leave her with nothing.

I'm glad that Charles wasn't able to marry Camilla while Margeret was alive; that would have been a horrific, hypocritical slap in the face to Margaret. It was a pointless sacrifice in Margaret's part and I think for the rest of her life Margaret was embittered by her loss. Then Princess Anne gets to marry a socially inferior divorce' and now look at Camilla and Meg. Look at how these formerly married women get in and their royal spouses get to keep it all.

Daily Fail strikes again! Guessing they wanted to reference a real royal in their line-up? lol They don't have a line up that interests a great number of people, it seems. You get what you paid for.

Yes, and it was a war hero who the BRF brought into the family fold, so to speak; George VI thought of Townsend as the son he never had. Now the BRF has the great-grandaughter of a flagrant prostitute/manipulator/homewrecker as Queen, a workshy crotch-flashing bully/stalker/possible traitor and racist as POW; Meghan actually looks tame in comparison. Not too worried about Tim Lawrence, but it is more than hypocritical, still. Why can't they all just find reasonable, respectable partners?

Now the BRF has the great-grandaughter of a flagrant prostitute/manipulator/homewrecker as Queen, a workshy cr@tch-flashing bully/stalker/possible traitor and racist as POW; Meghan actually looks tame in comparison. Not too worried about Tim Lawrence, but it is more than hypocritical, still. Why can't they all just find reasonable, respectable partners? Because of the fact that the way 'decent' people are changes from one generation to the next. HME grew up in an era where women in the workforce were akin to fallen women and women only worked by absolute necessity. Same with how social class was structured; it used to be the ideal that you could afford to live in Italy or Europe and dabble in something artistic and could sit on the beach and tan all day and who knows what else. It is clear that HME would not let the BRF change with the changing times and now decent types are in the workforce engaged actively in a profession and it is clear that HME refused to change and adapt to this 'new normal.' These days the ideal is a woman with a good education, solid profession, reasonably few lovers in her past, and has as much as can be acquired in her own name. The workforce used to be hostile and abusive to women and now it is becoming even more accommodating, and men agree that women should be in the workforce. These days the woman who is not working is the woman who is looked down on. HME refused to accept that there really was no real alternative to Townsend mainly since the era of grand imperial royal matches was over and I find it regrettable that Margaret married as low as she did. Her ex-husband flouted his role and responsibilities and he had to have KNOWN that he was in fact supposed to be a mainstay of the main royal. Second, the royals are narcissistic, not elitist and it is in my view that they are too stupid to process that their expectation of a miserable, empty relationship in exchange for luxury is something you ask of a mistress, not a spouse. I think Townsend was of the view that he was happy to be laid back and amiable and that would have given Margaret room to thrive. Women like Margaret or any successful energetic women need a man who is laid back, amiable, and chill. Tony was problematic in that he refused to prevent the press from getting under his skin. Once he was a member of the BRF, the aristocracy, he should have relaxed, and he should have walked two steps behind, and he should have done his part in enjoying the privileges and accepting that he was just as narcissistic as he fancied Margaret was. His career took a huge boost, and he should have been smart enough to accept that this is the way of the world and always would be. Snowden was like Diana in that he and Diana refused to view themselves as exceptional, as their roles were exceptional. When you are that high up, you only have to be at your spouse's convenience and in the meantime enjoy limitless privileges and limitless protection. Diana and Snowdon remind me of Hillary's Clinton's disparagement of the role of First Lady, but there is a difference between being first lady and being a regular wife. Being useless as a regular housewife is concerning, but being First Lady of a nation, there is nothing 'low' about seeing to the mental and emotional well-being of one of the most powerful men in the world. Diana was stupid in that she bought into that pop feminist value system that did not really apply to her and Snowden was stupid in that he would not step up to his very basic responsibilities. If I had been Snowdon and I had been needled by one of Margaret's artsy friends, I would have snapped back asking why they were there if I were so low in their view.
