This. Some sh#t is going down behind the scenes and they’re desperate to either cover it up or “right the ship” before they lose everything the spent the last 20 years scheming for.

So whenever we talk on here about divorce, we say all the time if Charles could divorce Diana, William can divorce Kate, who is not anywhere near as beloved as Diana.
Looking at these stories through that lens – this feels like a push to embiggen Kate as much as possible so that she does become as beloved as Diana, or more so, so that it seems impossible for William to divorce her. they’re just going to keep insisting that Kate is the rock, the lynchpin, the great peacemaker, the best thing ever, until the public believes it and William is stuck.
I think its falling flat, but I think that’s what’s going on and like you said, its only “going on” because its getting very messy behind the scenes and they’re desperate. If there’s no fear of divorce, then the Middletons wouldn’t be pushing this narrative so desperately.

Problem is they can’t make Kate as beloved as Diana in a few weeks. That would take years and she wasted the first 10 by hiding away for most of it. She would also have to do something of value to help people and she’s done nothing yet. Early years is meaningless and even hold still is something that’s she simply tacked her name on last minute. It doesn’t actually help people.

Yes, that’s the thing that’s puzzling me. Why Uncle Gaz? I buy that there’s a need for an embiggening campaign but Carole has plenty of RR contacts to put out a stream of “Kate the Wonderful” stories ad nauseam and, if I were her, given Gaz’s dodgy past, I’d avoid using him as a mouthpiece if at all possible. Uncle Gary should be sitting by his pool in the sunshine, enjoying his millions. Why IS he trotting about chatting to Closer Mag, that pillar of the magazine world (not)?
If it’s because he has blown his millions then that would explain a lot of the panic at Middleton Towers. Yesterday’s discussion around Party Pieces flagged that there’s no way that keeps them all afloat and William, whilst loose with his tongue is apparently tight with his money. If Gary’s well has also run dry then hoo boy….

@hench, this is true – why him, why now, why here? Gary’s not exactly subtle, and his stories tend to focus more on himself than embiggening Kate, so they don’t exactly serve the intended purpose. Are Carole’s usual sources no longer taking her calls? Is she persona non grata if she can’t deliver any Harry and Meghan tidbits? Maybe they are as tired of writing the Kate the Great drivel as we are of reading it. Or maybe her influence has waned.
After all, we know William can’t be happy with all of these stories about his wife being the key to the monarchy’s stability, a secret weapon, a diplomat making peace with Harry etc. W wants the stories to say what a great leader HE is! We know he can kill stories, surely he can also make sure that reporters let Carole’s calls go to voicemail.

@ The Hench, I think you have solved the mystery regarding Pervy Gary! His fortune in drying up, the Midd’s are certainly strapped for cash, and he was relying on a big payday once Keen Doucheness was QC, hence the narrative of pushing Charles out to pasture. Pervy Gary gave a great deal of money to his sister and their accent into the big aristo circle, though the aristos hate Keen, and that loan has come due!! Pervy wants his pay and a cushy tittle to boot!! He may not see it for another 20 years, hence the constant dribble of lies. Baldimort certainly isn’t going to give him any money, but once he is POW he might. But I find that unlikely. Baldimort loves power and money but doesn’t want to work. I think the Midd’s are desperate, as W&K don’t even live in the same house anymore.
As for his comments, he’s just pushing the Midd’s narrative, and his own underlying agenda, make no mistake about it. He has been silent for the better part of ten years until now.
