I wonder why Carole sought to promote Kate for William when Pippa would have seemed more his type and may be the natural mother here. Granted Pippa is no grand prize but her rather horsey and unfeminine looks are what he seems to like. No soft and feminine women for him.

I do not think it's just PR, I think Charlotte's upbringing is a manifestation of how both Carole and Kate wanted to be raised. Carole would have LOVED to have been raised on palace grounds and wearing boutique stuff and Kate would have liked to have been raised in regal isolation, away from plebs and away from anyone who is in fact a commoner (like herself). George is being burdened by his crazy father on 'how to be a good king' and it shows that he is being robbed of his chances at living an unburdened childhood while Charlotte is being raised with an unsophisticated middle class mindset and that is NEVER good. Both Kate and William are perpetuating their childhood dysfunction onto their children and Kate is exploiting her children by choosing to sell photos of the kids and pocket the cash. Kate is literally manifesting her mother's dreams onto Charlotte and raising Charlotte to be the little princess bee among more normal types, hence the move to a regular middle class boarding school. Kate wants her daughter to stand out like she never had a chance to, as the top dog in her school.

I understand why children were left in the nursery and not allowed to certain stuff. I blame Diana and Fergie for pushing for their kids to be on the balcony and on the stages in certain events that do not at all want children around. Kids shouldn't have been on the balcony or much of anywhere else and quite frankly it is irritating seeing kids who do not know how to behave, behave like this. |

William, like his mother, is not smart enough to figure out that he needs to figure things out. He is like Diana in that he does not recognize that he has limitations and those barriers cannot be overcome by status or titles or press or eve money. All the money in the world cannot buy a work history and it cannot buy a history of proven stamina. William has had chances to learn from the masters and then proceed to thrive, but he blew it. His more impressionable years are over.
As for using the kids, he is so low.

William is surely aware by now that he is at an age where he can't lose a single day of appearances and he can't make claims for more patience. What should frighten him is how he is certainly without solid support among his peers. He has no real connection with his European cousins and it is clear that he has no real connection with the aristocracy at all. He has no real connection with diplomats and politicians and he is losing his grip on his easy press because his mains support are elderly people who are stepping into retirement soon. He has nothing in his own right and his status is entirely at the control of the politicians. He has no experience to talk about, he has zero respect from heads of state, actual heads of state and I believe that he is at a point where he has no real help from anyone. He has no real security in his life and he will likely lose what stability he has left. He and Kate are holding each other back, but they are keeping their situation stable. Family values isn't what the nation is paying for. I think if he leaves Kate he will lose his stable situation and yet, he is clearly desperately unhappy with her.
