If Charles, when King, strips them of their "HRH" and Parliament were to vote to remove their titles due to a lack of service, that would solve a lot of problems. Losing the "HRH" reduces their marketability and the loss of their peerages would mean that they would lose social cachet. It's not like either are interesting in and of themselves and it is clear that neither did a good job. Harry isn't owed anything anymore and it would put the Cambs on notice about not doing their jobs. A loss of titles is extreme, but it is clear that both are out of control and blew a dozen new chances and the new precedent would enable Charles to remove the titles of the Yorkies and then of course, others who are not pulling their weight. It would incentivize any new consorts (of what is left of the monarchical way of life) to remember why they are supposed to be working and contributing. It's going to open up a whole sh#tload of problems, and could result in both of Charles' sons being stripped for numerous reasons. The Queen's passive nature ultimately allowed it to come down to this.
HM failed as a monarch and as a mother and I sometimes wonder what kind of a wife she was.

She was lucky to be rich and titled; it prevented her from having to make an effort to catch a man and it prevented her from having to make an effort in her marriage.

I think a huge part of this mess is how the public, many members of the public. have a psychotic sense of connection to the royals. After Diana's funeral, there were people who were shouting "look after the boys" and allegedly Philip lost it and shouted "What do you think we have been doing?" and there were people who were accusing Charles of child abuse for not being huggy/touchy publicly enough. First, most people like to heal by self isolating for a while and would prefer to just leave off and get on with the rest of the process and get on with therapy and spiritual counseling and just continue going through established routines as a crutch. Nothing wrong with and it is better than freewheeling and spiraling. I think that at a huge part of the public and British press believes that they are in fact genuine friends with the princes and guardians of their happiness.
In my view, there is also the wannabe factor. There are WAY TOO MANY young women who were fed this BS that someone like Harry was attainable to them and he wasn't. Harry was always going to marry someone wealthy and connected and part of the wider world. Harry didn't owe some Cinderella fantasy made real for some lucky young woman and the general public. Statistically the odds are worse than the lottery. Second, Harry apparently had better street smarts than William and wouldn't mix with women out side of his social set. Both princes were pressured to marry losers and people are mad that Harry married an adult woman of experience who doesn't make the wider public feel that a prince is attainable. Harry is not someone who was going to marry a girl next door and he had no real interest in doing so. Even William wouldn't mix with a genuinely working class type. William and Harry were statistically unattainable.
The press and media personalities really are insane enough to think that the are sincere friends with William and Harry and they aren't. The never were.
