You are welcome - I like the pictures and little videos of them - the way they look at each other, the looks on their faces.

Look at the very aristocratic features of Louise. She is a high born woman and it shows in her face. Now compare her to that thing the Idiot Prince Willy married. Good God! Louise was also a very nice person. The Thing Is Not.

Look at the very aristocratic features of Louise. She is a high born woman and it shows in her face. Now compare her to that thing the Idiot Prince Willy married. Good God! Louise was also a very nice person. The Thing Is Not. She did grow very thin, but that was due to health issues. If you see pictures of her as a young woman, she looks very much like her sister Alice plus her brother Lord Mountbatten. She was very democratic and down to earth. She had a series of failed romances/engagements and apparently swore she wouldn't marry a widower or a King. Well, a lonely and grieving King with 5 children came "courting" and an engagement seemed to have been announced only a few weeks after meeting or re-meeting (well, they knew each other previously, as he was married to a cousin of hers). Talk about whirlwind romance. I love a good romance. I think I have to get some more books on the subject - an interesting person, as was her husband. A product of the then very conservative Swedish court (he had a very Prussian mother, who was a granddaughter of Kaiser Wilhelm I), an intelligent, forward-looking man with a whole array of interests and an amateur scientist apparently, who married two very modern women, it seems. Louise wanted to marry for love, as her own parents did. Awh.

Beautiful pics and stories and thank goodness we have them and they haven’t been lost for ever.
My ex fiancé was ear marked to marry a princess and was very involved with Royalty. It didn’t happen in the end but when I first stayed with him there were pictures of Royalty everywhere. I often spoke to a princess who still ‘phoned him and yes India, they were all really lovely people, so well bred and true gentlefolk, quite quite different to what’s been allowed to infiltrate ours over here.

youtu.be/u0l0J1CMGiQA video in Swedish - with footage going back to the early 20th century. Some picnics, paparazzi, and ribbon cutting. Good stuff. youtu.be/65zWCuFTw7AA visit of the then Crown Prince and Princess of Sweden to the USA in 1938 A typical old royal tour - some parades, waving to the crowds, dignitaries, and oh, the Crown Prince speaking English in what sounds with a rather "English" accent.

I do like the present day Swedish royals a lot. Victoria and Daniel are fabulous. So are Madeline and Chris. Not so much Carl Philip and The Snake. They do have precious little boys.
