Not holding back on anything. Meghan Markle‘s mother, Doria Ragland, broke her silence on ex Thomas Markle‘s 2018 photo scandal. Harry and Meghan's Netflix Show: Biggest Episode 1 Revelations “I felt sad that the media would run with this. That he would capitalize …,” Ragland, 66, who was married to her ex-husband from 1979 to 1987, said during Prince Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries, which started streaming on Thursday, December 8. “Certainly, as a parent — that’s not what you do. That’s not parenting.” In the third episode, the trio reflected on Thomas’ staged paparazzi photos, which took place ahead of Harry, 38, and Meghan’s May 2018 nuptials. Meghan, 41, noted that the couple initially were not aware of what was going on with her dad, 78, in Mexico. “H and I called my dad. I said, ‘They’re saying you’re taking money from the tabloids to stage photos. Is this true?’ He says, ‘No,'” she said about the conversation. “And on that call, I’d said to him, ‘Look. If they can’t stop this story, then it’s going to come out tomorrow so why don’t we send someone right now to your house to get you out of there now because if that’s the case, your house will be swarmed by media. We’ll get you out.'”

By CORINNE HELLER DEC 08, 2022 3:32 PMTAGSDuring the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Doria speaks for the first time publicly about her daughter and Prince Harry's headline-making romance, and minces no words when it comes her feelings towards ex-husband, Thomas Markle, and the scandals that led his estrangement from the Duchess of Sussex.
"I was absolutely stunned that Tom would become part of this circus," Doria said in episode three of the series, released Dec. 8. "I felt sad that the media would run with this...that he would capitalize, certainly as a parent. No. That's not what you do. That's not parenting."
She further reflected on her own experience with the paparazzi before Meghan and Harry wed. "I felt unsafe a lot," Doria explained. "I can't just go walk my dogs. I can't just go to work. There was always someone there waiting for me."
Thomas has not responded to the remarks by Doria, with whom he split when Meghan was a toddler

www.vanityfair.com/style/2022/12/harry-and-meghans-what-really-happened-with-the-markle-family ROYALS Harry & Meghan's Biggest Reveal: What Really Happened With the Markle Family In the Netflix documentary Meghan’s mother and niece speak up for the first time to explain why things got so complicated between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle.Watching Prince Harry and Meghan Markle speak directly to the camera in Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, feels fresh even if we have already heard plenty of the stories before. But two voices in the documentary are truly new, and they both belong to Meghan’s relatives. Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland opens up about the “challenge” of the last five years. “I’m ready to have my voice heard, that’s for sure,” she said. “A little bit of my experience as her mom.” The other new voice is Ashleigh Hale, Meghan’s niece and the biological daughter of Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister. Together, their contribution to the series directed by Liz Garbus provides crucial insight into how the relationship between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle, got so strained in the run up to the royal wedding in 2018.
Ragland spoke about her close relationship with Meghan and how she felt when she first heard about Harry. “We were on the phone and she says, ‘Mommy, I’m going out with Prince Harry.’ And I started whispering ‘Oh my god!’ She says, ‘You can’t tell anyone.’ And so it was from the beginning, it was very ‘oh my god, nobody can know.’”

This could end very badly. If Doria has skeletons in the closet why she was not around during MM's teenage years then it may all come out.
Thomas has been thrown under the bus yet again. MM has ghosted him, used him with the letter and court case and now why would she bring him up in the money making venture about lies and other stories.
I'll get the popcorn out now.

I'll bring the vino and canapes. It's getting worse and worse and don't see any good resolution on the horizon. What I despise and I will openly out it whenever and whereever it's hypocrisy/lying. It's NEVER harmful and lies damage and DESTROY lives and family relationships. It's visceral with me. Doris maybe should have kept her mouth shut and not let herself be dragged into her daughter's issues, but guess that's a mother for you, but going AFTER the man who stepped in and raised your kid when rumour as it, YOU didn't want to, or your man didn't want your kid? Well, well, well... No wonder KC looks so worn and weary - he will NEVER be forgiven by his douche-bag sons.

Doria looks intimidated. She does not look like a woman who is answering freely.

It frightens me how much control Meg has over her mother; Meg is dictating to a woman who should be treated with deference and respect, not intimidated. I think Meg is just a bad seed, that happens. Kids have it all, but there is something about them that is just plain bad.

I believe some kind of private/person agreement was made between Doria and Meghan - Doria wouldn't dare go against her daughter's wishes or confront her in any way. Being meek and mild and but quietly "supportive" in the background means she has access to her daughter's dream life/access to the grandkiddies, financial stability, you name it. A dream life that won't be shared with Thomas or any other member of the Markle/Ragland clans.
I bet in some way Doria is going to have to make amends/condescend? to her daughter her entire life - after all, there is the mysterious gap of time that Meghan was essentially only being raised by her dad, Thomas. You think Meghan is or was ever going to make her forget it? She is OWED, see?
Meghan possibly may never grant her mother true forgiveness for any wrongs she may or may not have committed - not a comfortable or normal relationship by any means.

By all accounts Doria was not a good wife and was not a good mother; she was lazy, doing dope on the front lawn barely dressed, and she was someone who was an unstable influence who didn't like Samantha all that much. Fact is, that if it comes out that Doria was jailed, then that would be even worse. Not that the Brits are clean, but all that pomp involving Doria is something that would stain QE's legacy definitively.
