By Kaiser Omid Scobie, RoyalsThe managing director of the publisher, Anke Roelen, said it would investigate how the names ended up in the book. “It was an extremely precise process that took months,” she said. “So, we are very careful with drawing any conclusions.” Dutch publishing executives were skeptical that a translator would have added the names. “The only thing I can think of that could have happened is that the translator translated from an early pass” of the manuscript, said Willem Bisseling, a literary agent at Sebes & Bisseling. “But that’s just a guess.” Some speculated that the libel laws had handcuffed Mr. Scobie as tightly as the press. Daniel Taylor, a media lawyer at the London firm Taylor Hampton, said the author and his publisher were at risk of a defamation suit if the people who made the comments “were deemed to be racist in posing the question” about the child’s skin color. “If the names were included in the book by mistake without sufficient evidence to back up who made the allegation or the circumstances in which it was made,” Mr. Taylor added, “that may have led to a decision to pulp the copies.” [From The NY Times]

At this point, scobie is being smeared in the press for purposely doing this to garner more attention for his book. Which makes no sense. It was always going to get attention from the BM. And why would he want that legal hassle after working so closely with lawyers. So yeah what happened?
1.somehow an earlier draft was sent that had the names and scobie is saying his final copy did not contain the names but is being careful how he says this
2. The manuscript was licensed out to other publishers as he said and someone added the names before going into translation, not the translator but someone working in the publishing house

Amazing; the BRF is worried about this more than a fact that the British economy is nonfunctional, there are radical Muslims marching in the streets in support of the butchery that happened in Oct. 7th, and go figure, this is what the BRF is fixating on. Omid is a biographer and Charles/Camilla/WK should not be worried about this. I would be more worried about the fact that all it will take is for a minor spark to blow the entire British nation to pieces; the wealth gap is the worst it has been for decades and the BRF is worried about a biography. The more the BRF tries to censor this or discourage readers or sabotage Omid, the more the book gets press and publicity.

The letter that was written by MM....sound familiar to the letter written by her to her father?
I think it is a made up article that the King is investigating who leaked the letter. If a letter existed then it will have been leaked from the US.
The silence by the Sussexes is quite telling even if MM is supposedly telling friends that she didn't leak the names.

I think, for the first time in her life, Meg is running scared and she is realizing just what it is that she is involved in. She is clearly increasingly unnerved by the effects of her actions. I think she did leak it, but she is unable to handle the drama that she is causing. After that 'car chase' she was oddly silent about the situation and for a woman determined to milk victimhood, she was oddly silent and she was definitely oddly passive in the face of it all. Now this; I think she leaked it and is refusing to say anything mainly since she is upset about how it is not intimidating the palace and Charles is now King and he is in a position to do rather a lot of damage. He isn't just a hapless heir, but a man who is showing himself to be decisive and showing himself to be heavy handed. The paradox is that now, Meg can't stop herself from acting out. She can't stop testing the BRF and pushing and she can't focus on her work or her real responsibilities. I sometimes wonder just how far it will be when she finally ends up going too far. |

Recently there has been media articles about Harry wanting to come back to the UK for Christmas (and spend time with the family). The articles also indicate that although MM wants the invitation she doesn't want to set foot back in the UK given the supposed soap opera (of her own doing).
The recent events with the book and clearly showing that there may have been some Sussex leakage (whether directly or indirectly). Clearly one or both were involved because not too many people knew the names (Harry because he was involved in the conversation with one or more of his family and MM - based on what Harry told her). The Royal Family are not going to divulge private conversations.
So this could be taken to another thread but isn't about time the titles go. MM doesn't want to set foot in the UK so she has no association with the titles. As such, she either renounces them including the children in the line of succession or she/Harry requests they be put in abeyance.
I know MM needs the titles for access to celebrities, large contracts etc but the titles relate to the UK and she no longer wants to fulfil the roles of the titles, nor step foot in the UK and doesn't want to deal with the Royal Family. I hope the talks within the Palace are in relation to steps to stop the drama, do something about the titles (as the Bill has got publicity so they support it going to Parliament), seek legal action against Scobie or whoever was involved in it all. The translator was not involved and maybe the publisher was not involved but it's Scobie's name on the book and he may need to divulge his sources to save any little bit of reputation left.
Agree Kueifei that MM is running scared. If she was not involved in at all by now she would have commenced some legal action for another pay packet. I am not sure whether she will think it was her fault but will wait until we see who she blames to try to get out of the mess she created. People have had enough of the antics and this time she went to far. I think Harry is not bright enough to realise the impact and it will only be when the Royal Family come down hard that it may seep in that he can't always get what he wants and he cannot destroy people's lives.
I feel so sorry for the translators in this mess. They did a job which they have expertise in that field. You cannot translate names incorrectly, so in my opinion those names were on the copy that was translated. Still strange why it was only the Dutch version of the manuscript - implies some games behind the scenes and Admin had flagged about the laws in the Netherlands may have had something to do with that.

Good post!!!!!! I have no no qualms about titles being removed, and believe the names were provided to the Dutch translators. I think it's quite appalling to drag the reputations of innocent people down so you can rather passive-aggressively get your "point" across/get your intended message out in the social stratosphere. The damage is done; there is no going back and if I were the King, I would be doing some serious discussions about what to do at this point. Indulgence of a couple of douche sons and their unsavoury wives has led to this. It was very deliberate to do this, and the poor translator is obviously very distressed about this, and shame on those who would do this. If I were her, I would sue for defamation. There is a true cost to people's lives, reputations and careers, but no damage to those who are actually waging this ongoing royal "war". Enough, already. ENOUGH. Still, though, whether the titles can and will be removed based on THIS, is still up in the air. There isn't any REAL proof that any leaks came from Harry and/or Meghan (though privately we all seem to know the score) and can a reaction to what is just yet another royal book be enough to strip anything? Are people this worried about a former Soho waiter who, until Meghan came around, was rather a non-entity? I just cannot comprehend what they (BRF/British Press/etc) choose to react to and what they seemingly ignore. And just sick to the gills with the constant accusations of racism. It's like the little boy who cried "wolf" - it's just too much, who knows what is true or not, and quite frankly, there's a lot of racism/victim fatigue out there and people have much, much, much better things to worry or be concerned about. If Harry gets his titles removed, fine, but it would be hypocritical to remove his titles for this and not open up an entirely new Pandora's Box of other royals' much worse (IMO) behaviour. Go for it, but don't be surprised about what other secrets and betrayals that will have to revealed. |

He should have discussed what their version of the truth with his UK agent before making such a statement. I think there may come a time when OS has to consider whether he wants to protect himself and whatever future he has and tell the truth about the relationship/interaction/leakages from the Sussexes. Some media articles are now indicating that as OS based himself in LA, the Sussexes made their trips from Montecito to LA to meet up etc so there was no paper trail. au.news.yahoo.com/omid-scobie-says-never-submitted-095000867.html. Admin - I don't mind if the titles are removed and this is to open an entirely new Pandora's Box. Action is needed and it has to show that there are consequences. I think the BRF needs to regain focus and that should not be on Scobie. First, a book is a book and being called a racist isn't the same now as it was then and second, Meg is notorious to leveling accusations at people that are not at all either true or credible. Kate is outed as a lowlife and prejudiced, but Meg has a history of accusing people of things that are in fact NOT true. Second, there are worse problems right now and this is providing Scobie with the kind of press that most authors would LIVE for and it is providing momentum for the book's sales. Third, the palace should stop trying to censor books and they should focus on their own mess.
