William and Catherine Divorce Thread

Kate had better get used to hard living since her life will not get any easier.



1. She will not be granted a palace suite of apartments as her forever home.

2. She will not be granted a huge settlement since she has no leverage; Diana herself barely ended up with much despite her fame and contributions and almost unlimited help she gave the BRF.

3. She will not be given offices at St. James and an annual income since she has done no work.

4. She has no connections or contacts or allies to help her with a safe landing in a soft situation.

5. She has no work history to help her segue into an actual profession to make an actual living.

6. She has no one to take her in; her family will not take her in and will not want to coddle her even more and her mother will likely disown her.

7. The press will not treat her well when she loses her protection from the BRF and if she stupidly tries to build a profile, she will be treated as everyone else who is famous for being famous. The press will make her pay for all those years of lawsuits and jerking them around.
8. The workforce is harder to move into with no resume once you are older and she will not find it easy to get a job that will help her pay for a place to live. Second, she has no real sympathy on her side since the planet knows that she looked down on working and paying her own way.
9. If/when William remarries, Kate will be forced to watch another woman get her titles, the VIP treatment, and all the other favors and privileges. 
10. Fashion designers will turn their backs on her and they will show the new princess with their wares and Kate will likely experience a lot of hurt there.
11. The positive press coverage will transfer to the new princess.
12. She will lose her diplomatic passport and have to deal with the usual consular hassles that she hasn't had to deal with in over a decade. 
13. No more discounts or freebies.
14. Men will shy away from her because she will not bring much to the table, and she is notorious. She will struggle to find a high value man and the men who would have her will not be the types that treat their women well.
15. It is realistic that she will not get a courtesy title and access to the palaces. Realistically she will be broomed out the side gates and the only access she would have is if she were to be a servant. the BRF learned from Diana and Fergie that courtesy titles are often abused. 
16. She is way too old to be starting out in the workforce with an expired degree and no work history. 
17. The red-carpet treatment will end. No clubs, no country clubs will let her in and she will not be cushioned by a life of financed ease. She has no real friends among the upper crust, and she never belonged in those clubs in the first place. She had no real right to step into Hurlingham club membership and access those places and there is no way that she will be let in unless it is to work there in some menial position.
18. She has nothing to herself to help her rebuild areas of her life that are long atrophied. There is literally nothing to her.
19. There is no real place for her in a world that has drastically changed. Not just the pandemic, but it has been unacceptable for women to be not just with an expired degree, but with the fact that she has no zero-work history at all. She cannot say that she married virtually out of school and a lot of people are going to call her out for being William's mistress since leaving university. Those years in his bed before her marriage do not count as marriage. After a few years a woman goes from being a girlfriend to a mistress. Then there will be the fact that the WORLD will never help her forget her failed past.
20. We know how the world is to the fallen. The world is going to be cruel to her. No one will be anything other than basic and I am certain that she will end up getting a lot harassment that normal people experience all the time. It will be hurtful and ugly and even her own family will turn their backs on her.
21. She will have huge culture shock. Her bathroom at KP is likely larger than most apartments and she will experience a major lifestyle downgrade. She will not have bodyguards, she will not have entree to palaces and aristocratic estates, and she will not at all have access to spacious living. No more dressing rooms, no more powder rooms, no more other areas of life. Then there is the fact that she will have to pay utility bills, she will have to pay bills for her lights and her water and her heat and her other needs. 
22. The food she gets will be supermarket level and she will have to spend much of her time cooking it herself. No more gourmet food, no more gourmet chefs, no fresher farm supplied goods and she will have to pay for her food for herself. She will not be able to snap her fingers and have food sent to her room, she will have to get it herself. She will have to relearn how to cook (if she ever did learn) and then she will have to keep buying new supplies and the food will not be what she has become used to. Even worse for her, she will have to spend time cleaning her own dishes and cleaning up. 
23. Household staff. No more housekeepers, no more chefs, no more dressers, no more anyone anymore. She will have to do her own laundry, do her own dishes, make her own bed, spend time dusting her home, and make her own meals. No more chefs to whip up a gourmet meal, no more plush places to do, no more drivers to drive her places, and no more butlers or maids. Then there is the fact that she is clearly unwilling to look after herself and that will be even more traumatic. No more bowing servants, just herself and a world that is not nice. 
24. The social life she has left will dissolve. Beckham will cut her out and so will other celebs. They will pretend to not know her. She will be dead to them. She has no real standing in their life and after she is divorced, back to the rabble she will go.

Good point, but there are a variety of factors working against Kate.

Once William is king, he will not be required by anyone to do anything. He will not be required to keep Kate in royal style and second, George is a kid who is not yet near adolescence. Third, George would be subject to William and fourth, William is not elderly like his father. William for all we know could have thirty or maybe forty years until he is in fact dead and George would be king. 

Most significantly, the monarchy is dissolving. The 80's and 90's were unusual and Diana and Fergie got fat settlements and protection since both had done their part and the BRF did owe both Diana and Fergie a decent standard mainly since a divorce of a Princess of Wales and a Duchess of York was highly unusual. It's not like divorces among royals was common up until then. Since HME died and Charles took the Throne, the connection of current rising powers is in fact frail and William has no connections to wider UK/Commonwealth, much less the wider world. 

In levels of privilege, time is one thing that they cannot waste, or misuse and William has done both. William threw away his entire twenties and thirties to party and he is not a man who can claim that he had no clue or anything for that matter. Second, William has established a reputation of disliking diplomats and now that he is crossing lines into diplomacy, he has made enemies out of genuine diplomats.

Most vital, William has no connections to industry, actual industries. Charles and William ignore the business community and selfishly expect business deals to come through solely because they are royalty and business owners are supposed to grovel. 

Kate will not be supported by an ungenerous ex-husband and our modern mores will dictate that she look after herself realistically. If HME had not been Queen when Diana was divorcing Charles, Diana would have ended up with a lot less. Even in the States lifelong alimony is being abolished and I am certain that there will not be problems with much of anything. I also do not think Kate is aware that since she has done nothing for that family, they owe her nothing. At that level she will not be able to leverage anything since she brought nothing to her marriage and ended up doing nothing and contributing nothing.

Considering Willy and Ma's actions in that mess, they aren't going to come out smelling like roses.

I hope Kate and other women learn from this upcoming divorce.

Kate has dressed like them, attempts to speak like them, and has lived off of money like them, but it does not mean that she IS one of them or secure in her marriage like one of them. For the past so many years she has worked hard only in the area of pretending to be from money and established lineage and it is clear that even after all these years she is in fact still not one of them. She's been in William's life for twenty years or more and she is still not fully embraced as one of their own.

I think for Kate she will be disowned by her parents and siblings and for William, he will start spiraling until he self-destructs. Despite the mess, both are kind of maintaining a type of order and consistency and I believe that there will be problems if there is a divorce. Kate will not be able to adapt and adjust to a lesser lifestyle and she will not handle a downgrade and the abuse that will go with it. I think Kate will fail to develop a decent life for herself and I think she will fail to thrive. As for William, any woman he is associated with will be a woman who is suspected of being his mistress. If he thought it was hard to meet and find someone decent, he will in fact find it impossible this time around. Women who are older see him for the mess he is and younger women will not be marriage focused on him.

I think you're right. I think we overestimate William's stamina. He is not the type of person who would really rock the boat and if Kate does an appearance and is open and honest or at least credible, then I am certain that at least the drama will die down until WK start up another one. On the other hand, William is so unstable that he may well end up leaving her anyway. I think William will let Kate do her part and earn more time for their marriage, but William strikes me as someone who sincerely does not care about Kate as a person or consort. I think however that from here on, Kate is on probation and will be divorced at some point, but not right away or in any immediate time.
