Famed designer Bob Mackie - who drew the original sketch for Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' dress - slams decision to let Kim Kardashian wear it to the Met Gala: 'It was a big mistake'

The 82-year-old fashion legend, who has designed outfits for everyone from Cher to Lucille Ball, spoke out about Kardashian wearing Monroe's iconic dress

He told Entertainment Weekly that he feels it was a 'big mistake' to allow the 41-year-old reality star to wear the dress at this year's Met Gala earlier this month

Mackie, who sketched the dress while working as an assistant to designer Jean Louis in the 1960s, said that 'nobody else should be seen in it' other than Monroe

He echoed concerns of other fashion historians that the dress could have been damaged after being taken out of a preserved environment

Last year, Mackie hit out at the Kardashians, saying that they are just 'famous for being famous' and accusing them of 'copying' designs he created for Cher
