Clooney seems to be losing touch with reality. Ever since the Clintons, Clooney has been trying to worm his way into politics in even more aggressive ways and it is clear that he can't seem to discern between his activism and his career. I've watched clips of Ides of March and while it had huge potential, it seemed that Clooney was mixing his role with his personality. He has spouted about civil rights while he's supposed to make an acceptance speech at an awards show (one after another) and he usually talks about his causes and personal life when he's supposed to be promoting a film. He was up Obama's arse during Obama's term in office and he really seems to believe that he has some kind of developing pathological psychosis. He turned his engagement into a lunatic pre-presidential campaign and hyped it up to the point where he was DESPERATE to make the world know that he was marrying someone who wasn't in the industry and it is clear that he was DESPERATE to make it clear that Amal was 'more his equal' and his other exes were nothing but sludge to him. He insulted Hilary Clinton by suggesting that she didn't elevate her 'game' enough to his liking and it is clear that he still has not comprehended that despite the hype, he is an actor just like the rest of the dolts in that industry. I do think that if Biden gets into office, that he will try to get part of the decision making process within the Biden administration, or something like another special envoy position at the UN.
This guy can't seem to understand that despite his posturing, he is viewed as a plaything, not a fellow player and it is clear to me that he can't seem to separate the PR from the reality of who he actually is. His career is on the wane now and he is involved in handling lower tier television movies and quite honestly, he is on the decline.

There seems to be a sad mixing of politics and celebrity that, quite frankly, is really annoying. There's some serious and life-altering problems going on that are probably going to take years to solve and/or come back from, and it's not going to be done with the smug interference of today's celebrity whoever. I really can't get these dimbulbs anymore. It's way too much.

I remember reading that Clooney once wanted to give a speech at the UN and the Russian and Chinese and a handful of other delegates protested so strongly that it was abandoned. They stated something along the lines of having worked hard and didn't want to be lectured by an actor about anything at all on any subject. It irritates me that politicians actually are expected to weigh in with an entertainer on affairs of state and that Clooney had better access to the President rather than people, actual EXPERTS. I mean, the entire world is in a a terrible mess and even if COVID-19 is ever defeated in any capacity, I am certain that the last thing anyone needs or should have to put up with is a dolt celebrity with too much time on their hands to spend all their time lecturing and disrupting the process of rebuilding the economy and recovering emotionally and psychologically from the effects of the pandemic. If ever a vaccine is successfully created, I am quite sure that no one should have to have Clooney or DiCaprio in the meetings and the last thing anyone should have to put up with during a vaccination drive is to have Clooney disrupting things by trying to be in charge or direct proceedings or just plain put up with BS like Clooney demanding meetings with heads of state to discuss pricing or discuss how the vaccine will be distributed. This coddling the celebrity activist mentality is serious BS and should NEVER be indulged anymore.
Clooney is just getting way too into politics and for all his ambition, he has had no interest in getting an actual degree and putting in the same off camera hours as the rest of the aspiring diplomats or ambassadors or actual heads of state.
His dolt wife is just as brainless. For all her Oxford education, she can't seem to comprehend that if she berates diplomats or heads of state publicly, there will be no progress in getting what she wants since no head of state will be seen to publicly give into anyone, much less a junior barrister who is getting way above herself. As for now we are in the midst of a pandemic that might get worse during the next year and the economy is still in a downward spiral. She has ZERO qualifications to speak out about anything substantive and it is clear to me that she will never move beyond being a fashionably dressed celebutante activist. She has never really repped anyone on her own mainly since as a junior barrister, she is part of a support team, not the main counsel. Her husband pays handsomely for good headlines and fawning articles, but that will not change the fact that she is not qualified for lead counsel and never will be if she continues to jet set rather than end up actually doing casework in substantial numbers and spending more time in court rather than at movie premieres or Casamigos events.

George Clooney says he was shunned by Hollywood after 1997's Batman & Robin flopped
I am surprised he has had a career that has lasted as long. He could have had a great career as a character actor, but he has had an unnaturally long career. He has no real ability to fit into the roles he is given and it is clear that he is no longer taking his film 'career' seriously since he is fixated on getting into diplomacy without realizing that he will never be taken seriously.

It was bad casting; Clooney played himself, his perennial bachelor self and he never just FITS INTO the film; he ALWAYS tries to make himself the main star even in an ensemble cast. It always has to be about him. Then there is the fact that he no longer promotes films in interviews, he promotes himself and his trendy causes (and now his wife) and there is no guarantee that he won't disrupt filming for jetting off to a refugee camp. He literally has no concept of team collaboration and then there were those Oceans films that got sillier by the sequel. He doesn't do research and he isn't interested in any in-depth research or discourse since he isn't capable of it. For the past months since lock-down, I have been watching almost everything and anything and I have been anti-celebrity activism since the Iraq war. I also believe that He just isn't marketable anymore. He just pisses me off.

I wonder how his marriage is doing?
I think just fine, but increasingly strained. Amal acts like she's the lead counsel when she's there to support cases and it is clear that she fancies herself as 'more' than that. It is also clear that George thought that marriage to Amal would make him more substantial and get him a serious role in politics, but that won't work since he has to actually be more than just good looking in a suit. He has no real additional education and he has no actual record of public service to the US. It was irritating hearing him bash his exes and I don't think the marriage is going to last if he doesn't get any coveted political roles. I also think that Amal has made a fine fool of herself. I wouldn't want her repping me in court.

George Clooney’s marriage to Amal is ‘really easy’: ‘We haven’t ever had an argument’
Of course not, he pays the bills and she knows it. There is no way that she can really leverage anything. He likely had her sign an iron-clad prenup and I am certain that he has decided to just run things his own way.

^ When someone who is married says that they have never had an argument then they are flat out lying.

I have no idea why he even makes this our business. So what? Ever since he and Amal hooked up, he has been a complete and utter loony. After the engagement was announced, there were these sprees of headlines about how Clooney was engaged, how he was going to be 'totally presidential,' as a result of this union with Amal, and it is clear that he was unhinged at the Harry/Meg wedding. Then there was the fact that he was making such a public fool, bashing is exes, how his father talked about Amal being 'more George's equal' and how Amal was somehow 'on par' with an under-educated actor who didn't even finish his college schooling. I mean really, he was completely manic. Then that ostentatious wedding and Barbara Walters 'special' about how Amal was one of her most fascinating people of the year. Clooney's marriage to Amal proved my instincts correct that he wanted to marry up socially, he did not want to marry just 'anyone' (someone who was on his actual level) and I believe that he simply has no ability anymore to push the 'off' switch and get on with his routine life of enjoyment.
Why George and Amal Clooney Did Not Attend Princess Eugenie’s Wedding to Jack Brooksbank — Though the Actor’s Tequila Did
I think the real reason is that they were not invited or wanted. Clooney got into the one with Harry for reasons that still mystify me and quite frankly, he has no real connection beyond booze and Meg wanted big shot (in her view) names at her wedding to fill up her side of the guest roster. I do think that Clooney really did think that being at H&M's wedding meant that he had at long last 'made it' socially, but that is because Amal could manipulate Meg and snagged an invite.
Back on topic, I think both are terribly disappointed. George thought that Amal would make him a player instead of a jester among the genuine politicians and it is clear that it hasn't happened. Maybe Amal thought that Clooney would boost her into being a genuine legal specialist who would take charge of cases herself (despite only being a Junior Barrister) and she would conquer the world while wearing Chanel. It didn't happen and she has done speeches about Syria, but she is still kept out of the big leagues where the real movers/shakers are.
It's not like she's really top tier and a JB isn't the same as a legal expert in her own right. I think a huge amount of clashes come from George who wants Amal to legitimize him politically, but she simply can't since she has no real footing with the political/social elite in the US and never really will. She can't make George into a politician since he has no education and no real record of public service. He has not served in the military and he clearly cannot see that the 80's and 90's are over and celebrity activism is being looked at with increasing annoyance. It's not like anyone has patience for it anymore.

George Clooney is weird and creepy, especially his over the top reaction to Diana's death. I wonder how he even got invited to Harry's wedding when he's made it obvious he still has wet dreams about Diana.

He keeps pushing himself into situations that do not concern him. Diana's death, wasn't the death of HIS mother and he keeps trying to put himself up as some kind of authority on everything and it is clear he has no real sense of proportion. He was so far up President Obama that he got into a fistfight at a casino in Vegas with a real estate tycoon since the tycoon was criticizing Obama and it is clear that Clooney just ode not know HOW to stop trying to dominate and control everything around him. He makes speeches praising Hollywood for spearheading the civil rights movement (it didn't) and mainstreaming AIDS (they didn't, Diana did a lot more effectively) and he can't stop promoting himself during interviews when the focus should be on the film and he kind of usurps premieres with his wife when it should be about the cast/crew, not about him and his wife.

I think (HOPE) that soon-to-be President Biden keeps Hollywood out of the White House and ends up taking a more socially conservative approach. I really prefer Republicans since Republicans are not openly consorting with entertainers as if the entertainers are the social/political equals of the people we ELECT to do the job of running the country. Clooney is not elected and he needs to back off and learn to press the 'off' switch' and stop pushing everyone around and making everything all about him. He mouthed off about Hillary Clinton not 'upping her game' enough in his eyes to win the election and it is clear he is way out of line. Hillary NEVER owed him any kind of proof that she hadn't been trying and it is clear that he really does believe he is some actual authority on presidential candidates. He has no 'off' switch and it is clear that he's on a career downswing, but isn't interested in stepping back from his relentless self promotion. He's headed for a wall and it is clear that he will never really get out of this delusional mindset that he has. I remember how IDES of March was being promoted and reporters asked about Clooney being presidential materiel and it is clear that he literally cannot accept that you can't 'break in' to those circles, you have to really, truly WORK HARD and do it without a camera. He has no additional education, he has no real military or substantive public service that would benefit the US, and it is clear that he refuses to conform to anything. He would NEVER be able to handle a campaign or hold office and he would never have to stop proving that he is more than just a jumped up entertainer. He has had a good run, but he can't keep trying to dominate every event he is invited to and he can't keep dominating other people. He is the self described Mayor of Hollywood, but really, he has no idea just how little that is going to mean in the future. The industry is restructuring and it is clear that Los Angeles will no longer be the main nerve hub of the industry. There is no way that a lot of people can afford to move to L.A., much less haul up stakes and risk homelessness in trying to get a break. As for being 'mayor,' he is going to eventually end up an anachronism since an entire new generation coming in has just decided to not live in L.A. or focus only on getting on the cover of magazines. His activism is getting passe since everyone is refocusing on making a practical living and the actual experts, the ones with the actual education/training will not just put up with being shoved side so Clooney can get his precious headline. I mean really, the 80's/90's celebrity activism was the worst thing to happen to Western culture and it has done terrible damage. He has no qualifications and he should not push himself where there are already qualified experts who are able to handle the situation. Sick of his jive act, that is all it is. He just refuses to back off and let others get on with their business.

Shooting his mouth off about himself when he's supposed to be promoting a movie:
George Clooney remembers the time that Boris Johnson compared him to Hitler
Comment I liked:
Honestly, this is Clooney in a nutshell and quite frankly, I believe that he will end up losing out on offers or production support. He's had his run and he's had a much longer run than his 'talent' deserved, but now it's time for a fresher generation to rise up and take their spot in the industry. Clooney is part of a generation that is way too personal and keeps focusing on themselves and their trendy causes, not the film project that they are supposed to work on promoting.

The funny thing about Clooney imo is he stuck around due to being a "pretty boy". He's one on the ugliest actors around, even in his younger years. He's been a guard dog for Pitt for too long. He'll never get his comeuppance. Just as I don't think Angelina Jolie is pretty or a good actress. She has fallen a little, but the world has little use for aging women...
