My opinion may be controversial (I will be the first to admit I like to be petty). I do agree. Everyone with money does this. I think a lot of contention is people realizing "it's a big club and you're not in it".

I think a lot of contention is people realizing "it's a big club and you're not in it". I bet you are right. Well, I'd bet if I had any free money, but I don't. To them, I am sure they didn't think it was a problem, just something very common. But they ended up taking up a legitimate student's chance and for that they need to finally wake up and understand it's not right.

To them, I am sure they didn't think it was a problem, just something very common. But they ended up taking up a legitimate student's chance and for that they need to finally wake up and understand it's not right. Yes and no. Yes, in theory. No in practice. I doubt anyone poor (I am poor) was going to get that spot. Even if they did, it would just be student loan debt. College is sort of scammy in the US. Also, a BA is basially a high school diploma at this point. If you don't have an MA, you're counting on connections and no debt to get a head (which is rare for poor students).
