Social media users are aghast at Brooklyn Beckham's $3.5million Miami wedding as the world grapples with war, COVID and the cost of living crisis The family of Brooklyn Beckham's wife Nicola Peltz has been criticised for spending $3.5million (£2.7m) on the couple's lavish wedding in Palm Beach, Florida this weekend The bride's parents Nelson and Claudia footed the cost, with the $494m (£379m) fortune of Brooklyn's parents David and Victoria being dwarfed by the estimated $1.6billion (£1.2bn) wealth of Nicola's Having heard the news of the couple's nuptials, Twitter users said the money could have helped those suffering in Ukraine amid the war against Russia, or elsewhere amid the cost of living crisis By OWEN TONKS FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 07:22 EDT, 10 April 2022 | UPDATED: 11:13 EDT, 10 April 2022

If they are spending then someone else is receiving the money. In turn they will spend and so on. Many people will benefit

Absolutely agree. The social media users who are complaining about this clearly think no further than the ends of their noses. @ Lottie - so? Big busi9nesses employ people too. Contracts going to big business keep people n jobs too. And those people will spend their money at other businesses including small ones.

But what example are they setting plastering their crass display on the cover of Vogue etc? They could've just m had a wedding for a measly $1M and given the additional $2.5M to Ukraine. Then others would have genuinely benefited

There are vast numbers of people who want everyone to be as miserable as themselves. They will try to wrap it up in self righteous indignation citing this disaster or that but at the end of the day it is their own sad little lives they want everyone to emulate.

We have no idea what charitable donations are already being made by the families. Everyone spends according to their own budgets.

Exactly, it's THEIR money ! Trashing someone wedding who pay for it themselves is kinda useless when you give willingly your hard earned money to a useless royal family !

How much of these billions could be re-invested into businesses. It's not enough to create jobs for caterers etc on one day. The people who work every day to produce profits for these people should have a decent living wage that keeps up with inflation, a pension, healthcare etc. If you don't want high taxes and government spending then private industry leaders have a responsibility to trickle it down. Unfortunately greed and the need for super yachts, multiple mansions, and pride are prevailing. This girl has literally purchased herself an entirely new face on the backs of thousands of people who are struggling.

Dream weaver, if that's your conclusion then maybe you ARE 'stupid', in your own words. There's the cost of security, marquees, table and chair hire, flooring, decoration, construction, florists, cleaners, wedding planning, the celebrant, photographer, videographer, hair, make up and outfits for the whole bridal party, car hire, putting up many, if not all, guests for the night, toilet hire, the orchestra/band/music, lighting, sound, cleaners, attendants, waiting staff etc. etc. Then per guest is the catering, copious bottles of champagne and alternatives, wedding favours (most likely goody bags) which would come to a fraction of the other things, not 11-12k per person. Maybe we'd pay far less for all of above but they'll be getting the best of the best, and though Vogue is covering the event we don't know how that 3.5 is split - maybe Vogue has covered half of that.

While David Beckham taking millions from cruel dictatorships, plus even more despicable taking 250,000 from UNCEF, to front a charity ( supposedly) campaign.

Kate Winslet got married in a local church and then had a pub lunch in the village pub. She has got married again twice since but I dont think any of them have been big celebrity weddings.

So are rich people not allowed to have a wedding? This is normal for them. The other half is just bitter.

True. If it wasn't spent on this wedding it would probably just be sitting in a bank account. At least this way it frees up some of the millions back into the economy.

Yes but 3.5 million for a wedding? Point is, money should be put to a good use like helping others maybe if in a privileged position not gross displays .. just a thought!

Davide Beckham made a fool of himself. Waiting in line in a suit and then doing a full bow to the coffin as if he is there as 'more' than just another tourist. Do these people have any basic self respect?
