Just reading Diana in Private. The Princess nobody knows by Lady Colin Campbell. A really good read and quite a lot in there that I didn’t know too.
I am also reading on Kindle the latest Prince Andrew book which again is a good read and detailed description of his life.
Before that I read the one by Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser etc. This is an interesting insight to QE.

Re above
Longtime royal watcher Cawthorne — whose book, Prince Andrew: The End of the Monarchy and Epstein was out May 28 — is a less-than-flattering portrait of the disgraced second son of Queen Elizabeth.
An explosive new book is painting Prince Andrew as a spoiled, over-indulged child who turned into an “entitled, obnoxious man.”
The prince is currently ensnared in the mire of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.
Andrew, 60, was close pals with the fiendish financier who had a sick compulsion for sex with underage girls. One of Epstein’s sex slaves has claimed she had sex with the royal on at least three occasions when she was underage.
In Prince Andrew’s train-wreck TV interview, he denied even knowing Virginia Roberts. He was less than convincing.
“I’ve seen him treat his staff in a shocking, appalling way. He’s been incredibly rude to his personal protection officers, throwing things on the ground and demanding they ‘f***ing pick them up’. No social graces at all. Sure, if you’re a lady with blonde hair and big boobs, I bet he’s utterly charming,” a former aide told author Nigel Cawthorne.

I am guessing it's a tough read in the sense he seems to be a completely arrogant and unsympathetic character? Have you finished this book? Would you recommend it?

Re Diana - that she wasn’t the sweet person behind the scenes who met Charles sitting on a hay bale at Cowdrey Park Polo. She determinedly stalked him in a very obvious way right from the second meeting at Balmor@l and in between the first meeting there. They were at one point very sexually attracted to each other but because Charles was very sexually wired Diana couldn’t cope with his demands. (Rather like the D0E coming down to breakfast at Broadlands on his honeymoon and saying that QE was insatiable!)

The other thing was that it’s alleged Diana wasn’t ‘as pure as the driven snow aka not a virgin). The Press initially started digging in to this then stopped as they didn’t want to ostracise the RF and their readership wanted the innocent virgin image. Diana apparently had a boyfriend for a year, George Plumtre and they often went away on weekends together etc.

Atleast Diana wasn't a renown trollope who was notorious for flashing all or an sundry. So what if she had ONE boyfriend. ONLY ONE.

At the time it was said to be Camilla as no one would admit Diana wasn't a virgin. Diana was very calculating and manipulative. Her son's keep on about the press killed her but she manipateled the press and even on that fateful holiday with Dodi she phoned the press to tell them they'd be in Paris

I never thought she was a saint and never understood those who chose to make her and in particular her son William one. Not in the least way can I even see him, for instance, carrying on her REAL legacy. She was imperfect and I can readily believe she was no vestal virgin when she married Charles. And why should she have been, I say?

The Spencer family was/is as ambitious as the Boleyns and Woodvilles, only worse. Diana was an obsessed fan, not a woman who was viewing and treating him as an equal. When Charles couldn't live up to the deranged image she had of him, she acted out the same way any abusive, controlling, spouse would. Thing is, that Lady C. has never been sued and has never been even written to by others demanding a retraction. Even Tina Brown admits that Diana was helped along by her family and the press and Diana did orchestrate a well calculated media campaign to railroad Charles into proposing. Tina Brown also suggested that Diana was the one on the royal train since she didn't list the royal train as one of the many grievances she had against Charles and Camilla.

I feel like this a well known story, I know Tina Brown said it was true. Some time later in the marriage, Diana bought some lingerie and Charles was turned off and they did not have sex. For some reason, I've never bought this story. Just as I've never took the Windsor sex drive to mean all night every night. I've always thought Charles has some weird fetishes and a mommy/submissive complex. He probably was into weird stuff like say pegging. I know a few sources have said the Duke and Duchess of Windsor did such.

Diana's book with Andrew Morton has been debunked time and again and it is clear that she was outright lying regularly throughout the book. Then there was the autobiography by the Duchess of York that was (by all accounts that the reviews have said) that she kept flogging herself down and showed pathetically low self esteem. I did read the biography about the Duchess of York written by Christopher Hutchens and that was far more accurate (in my view). Thing is, that throughout many of the books written about Diana and Fergie is that before marriage, they were living aimless lives. Neither had any real stability and neither was developing it for themselves. Diana was nineteen and a teenage kid and so I understand that, but Fergie herself was not someone who was holding down any kind of regular schedule. I find it sad that neither woman could just get along and chill and enjoy their good lives; Diana mistreated Fergie in treating her as a rival of some kind and Diana even leaked the separation between the Duke and Duchess of York despite the fact that the ducal couple were still sharing a bed and were not sure if that is what they wanted. I find it an interesting pattern that all the books written about the princess are in fact loaded with Diana's unnecessary and one-sided competitiveness. Diana (unfairly) saw and treated her elder sister as a rival and then Diana unfairly saw and treated Fergie as a rival, then she (Diana) transferred that competitiveness towards Prince Charles (and we all know how that ended). Diana just for some reason was not willing to just chill and enjoy life. Then there was the competitiveness with Camilla, that was not needed since as the legitimate wife, Diana's position at that time was inviolable.
Next is Diana's pathological lying. She write the Morton book, which was a pack of lies and then she is written about in biographies as having lied to one person after another, starting with Charles (claiming she liked country life and found his hobbies interesting).

Before that I read the one by Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser etc. This is an interesting insight to QE. lady C never met Diana, nor has she met a single senior member of the royal family. LC trades in gossip and rumour. That's about it. When this person dies it will all come out. Tina Brown met her once. Morton was in her company as a royal reporter. Junor resented Diana because her father was fond of Diana. Ingrid Seward and Junor are both toadies. Diana wasn't a saint, neither were Charles and Camilla. I don't buy a teenager being smarter than the the entire Royal Family, Charles, the royal household and the courtiers. Charles needed heirs, he didn't want his siblings proving theirs. He proposed to other women who knew about Camilla and declined. Diana was cast aside after breeding an heir and a spare. After that all bets were off.
