No one views Kate as anything other than a woman of privilege (Kate's real goal in the first place) and frankly put, she is such an ongoing nonentity that she has no real pull in any area anymore. She has contributed nothing, she brought nothing to her marriage, and she was someone who was effectively bringing in a mooch family and I believe that she would have ended up dumped for good in 2007 if William had chosen to stay in his own lane. The people in Liverpool have chosen to boo William for the first time in his spoiled life and there is no point to pretending that Kate even wants to do anything for anyone. She was one of them, but ended up throwing that connection away for a spurious one that will dissolve if/when there is a divorce. Kate has simply ruined all her chances and she might get new stuff frequently and access to Duchy money, but I believe that she is on a precipice and there is nothing she can do to save herself.

I think one of the worst strategic and tactical mistakes that Kate chose to make was to end up choosing to avoid even the most basic routines. To me, a woman who comes from nothing is a struggle enough, but thing is, that by making nothing of herself she brought nothing but hype and she retreated rather than choosing to move forward like a healthy adult with a life and past before her marriage. If she had done a basic routine of appearances and engagements and state banquets, she would likely have been able to embed herself into the royal fold considerably well and she would have been able to avoid losing what respect her husband might otherwise have had of her. Just a basic fulfillment of her obligations would have built respect she desperately needed. Instead she stupidly thought that HME would in fact end up living forever and that William was stuck. Then her family enjoyed freeloading and enjoyed access to events that should not include them. After all is said and done, Kate made one bad choice after another, just the way Meg makes bad choices after getting good opportunities.

I wonder how long until Kate is broomed out. There is no fixing her and at forty-one she is at an age where she is basically unable to undo her refusal to do her job. She has no long string of accomplishments, she has no real substantive allies or contacts in her own right, and she is certainly a woman who has no real help. Her husband is basically indifferent and I believe she is being cut off slowly but surely and has no real safe landing.

Kate Middleton's Work Schedule Revealed As Her Aides Defend Her Title As A 'Working Mom'
Amazing; Kate used to revel in wife/mother and now she is eager to defend her 'working mother' status.
I think a cultural divide has been crossed now that Kate of all women is eager to maintain the status of 'working mother' instead of just pliant well kept consort.
How times have changed. Being a working mother used to be a last resort, now even a British Princess Consorts determinedly grasping the title of working mother. Just a few decades ago Diana set the feminine ideal of being wife/mother/consort and now it is working mother.

This is a great insult - no working mother has it this good. This useless crotchflasher has never held down a real job. Its all about image - my, Carole is working overtime on the PR.

I'm just pointing out that being a working mother used to be a title that women sometimes preferred to dodge and before the pandemic, being a working mother was a title that Kate dodged. Before her engagement Kate dodged being labeled a career women in a profession in favor of being a 'sheltered' young woman in a middle class family that protected her from 'having' to work. Now suddenly Kate is clutching at the careerist label that she used to studiously reject.

Kate is on the tail end of any trend and it is clear that she is clutching at being labeled a working mother since it is clear that being well kept is not in itself an aspiration anymore. So being a working mother being a good thing has been trending for some time and steadily gaining respect. I'm all for a woman in a profession hitting her stride and enjoying a laid back schedule, but Kate has not been working and her hips are not an honest trade. Thankfully I do see that along with the disillusionment of royalty in general, there is a clear focus on women who are in a profession gaining real standing in their communities and that comes as a huge relief. No more 'working' as a sign of being 'made to' for not being 'smart enough' to land a man at a young age and being 'rescued' from having to make a living. These days it is clear that career women are easily getting all they want, plus the best men. Kate is no longer considered 'lucky' to have landed William mainly since William himself has gone to seed. It is clear that William is no longer even able to accomplish much other than stunting and that is PATHETIC of him. Women who do not work while married are becoming marginalized and it is clear that all the good men go for women in professions, not the young women who are fresh from uni. Diana and Kate are kind of the same in that their values and practices were going out of 'style' when they married their princes. Diana's aimlessness and drifting before and after her marriage were becoming part of a split focus and Diana was lauded for being a feminine ideal for a while, but she was never respected. Kate got a degree and therefore conformed to her own 'by choice' era, but it is clear that Kate made the wrong choice, a choice that had no real future. Beyond forty, Kate has no real marital future and even if she retained even a courtesy title, it is clear that she has FEW good prospects in a post-marital life. Diana tried to become a celebrity royal activist, but all Diana did was flood the market she created with celebs being treated as equal to royals, not as a inferior type of public figure. After Diana's death, celeb culture was all over the political sphere, regrettably. If Kate ends up divorced, she will end up having to develop a life of her own that does not include VIP access, red carpets, and there will not be a lot of people clamoring to dance attendance on her. Kate might claim to be a owkring mother, but that ship passed years ago and she (as usual) has no real history to back that up.

ELIZABETH December 28, 2023 at 8:31 am I was at a Facebook party at a hotel in Windsor that Sally Bedell-Smith attended on the day of Meghan & Harry’s wedding. She barely looked at the TV screen during the whole thing. The "Meghan Interjection" to make any CB thread all truly royal/woman of "color taking on the big,bad British Monarchy St. Meghan? So, it's all about Meghan 24/7? Guessing that negates all that royal research and what was the BM prior to Megs anyways?

EURYDICE December 28, 2023 at 9:04 am This doesn’t mean Kate is actually close to Charles – it just means Charles is further away from William (or, that Kate is further away from William).
I love the bit about the Diplomatic reception. Kate “hugely enjoyed” it, like she was a toddler given a special treat – and “looked really at home,” as if she had just joined the RF instead having been a part of it for over 10 years.

JAY December 28, 2023 at 9:59 am Yeah, that’s a total drive-by on William, right? Because the article could have said that Kate has been building bridges or whatever and thus she and William are closer than ever with Charles. Or that her family is taking on more to support the king. There was no reason to swipe at William.

BRAVO December 28, 2023 at 9:11 am Oh I believe they’re close. Closer than we think. You don’t get to spend that amount of money on the same clothes in different colors and perma-vacations if ‘daddy’ doesn’t love you. They always look beyond intimate when they kiss and hug and linger a little too long. And the way Charles sonetimes grabs her wrists is…well, not something I’d expect from a father in law. And didnt he give her one of those honours that traditionally he or other kings usually gives their mistresses? Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we found out they were having an emotional affair (god forbid physical. Vom). And since we know they and/or their people read here, I expect they’ll distance themselves a little in public from now on.

AQUARIUS64 December 28, 2023 at 9:27 am This article is Middleton sanctioned IMO. Ever since Pus Morgan outed Kate as one of the royal racists damage control went Def Com One. Kate needs to be seen as invaluable to the Crown and cozying up to Charles prevents William to seek a divorce. But at the same time William is seen as ill-prepared for the throne. He never had a coming of age ceremony when he turned 18 and he blew off the Prince of Wales investiture. To appear to rely on his commoner wife to navigate diplomacy is a bridge too far.

TESSA December 28, 2023 at 9:38 am Diana got letters which came into the public domain from Philip saying he and the queen supported Diana and did not understand how Charles preferred Camilla. However when it came right down to it this did not stop Charles getting that divorce and ultimately his parents supported Camilla. Charles will back William if he wants that divorce

Charles was a loyal and dutiful Prince of Wales and I cannot imagine him being happy with how Kate has damaged HME throughout the past decade. Second, Kate wore that tinfoil 'tiara' and flouted him by arriving late to the coronation no less. Give it time, King Charles will turn on her mercilessly.

I think he is quietly thinking over that once a divorce is in full swing, that it is clear that he will show her no mercy or charity or sufferance. During the divorce from Diana, Charles wanted to strip Diana of everything and leave her with near nothing. Second, Kate brought nothing to her marriage and contributed nothing for ten straight years and therefore, has no leverage to bargain a settlement. HME was a pushover, King Charles is not.
