I think the worst of this, is how Kate was given chance after chance after chance to fulfill her responsibilities and she refused; it's not that she couldn't, she just refused. She was given full staff, millions at her fingertips to pay well and use her resources to provide herself with a FABULOUS work wardrobe, and she refused. During her first year she had designer and couture and she ended up refusing to fulfill things full time. Then there is the fact that she terrorized Harry to the point where Harry went against his preference to fall into line and without Kate there would not have been a Meg. Harry would be in the UK and he would be doing his duty and regrettably, Kate made that impossible for him. Kate got that ring and like Meg, had the chance of a lifetime and she blew it. She blew it despite all that support, all those resources, and all the adulation she had handed to her. Then Kate attacked Meg (like she does all women) and blew it big time. She had no right to expect anything out of any member of the BRF, much less Harry. I see Kate's vulnerabilities, but Kate is like that woman who feel sorry for, marry, and she makes your life a living misery. William likely did think she would change, adapt, and at least TRY, but she refused. She refused to even try because she is too rewarded for how she has chosen to behave.

She would have been better off, a better person, if she had just let William go in 2005, or 2007, and accepted that he would be better off without her. The hardest thing I have had to accept and experience, is that there are those who are in fact better off without me in their lives. There are those who are better of without me married to them, or friends with them, or working with them professionally. It's SO HARD, but had to be done. I know of one boyfriend who is happily married to someone I thought he dumped me for and I accepted that and I also accepted that old friends and even relatives are happier without me around.

She would not accept that she would have been a distraction and a disruption and she is. She dated him and distracted him from his responsibility that had been mapped out and she deliberately disrupted his focus on his family, when he had a DUTY to attend on his father, he had a DUTY to attend on HME during banquets and state events, and William should NEVER have been put in a place where he would have to choose. The entire point of being part of an aristocratic or royal family or ANY family that views themselves as strong and united.

After graduation, William should have been going ahead with attending the Opening and Closing of Parliament, state banquets, and he should have been working in the offices of the charities involving his family members, and he should have been living on base in military training, and he should have been then traveling and living in various embassies around the world and assisting ambassadors and their staff. He should have been cultivating himself and spending time with learned men and people of accomplishment like Sir Nicholas Winton and fulfilling the life that had been LOVINGLY mapped out for him by courtiers who have dedicated their lives and slaved their guts out for him and his family. Then at thirty he should have been squiring around eligible ladies who would make fine consorts and then properly courting and engaging himself to them and making a fine marital match and living a solid life as a successful royal duke and then Prince of Wales and then King.

Kate distracted and disrupted all of that. Kate made it difficult for him to do his DUTY and the basics and she had no right to do that.
