Aside: Yes? Maybe you don't really see history for what it was?

Aside: Posting this as Meghan is dragged into this now, thanks a great part to Harry, who seems to believe there is some kind of comparison? 2

I think Diana relied on the press for narcissistic supply. It wasn't being a publicity hound or attention seeking hound, but she wanted the adoration that the press gave her. Throughout the entire era, Diana went from being covered, to seeking coverage; she wouldn't just get coverage, she would end up seeking even more out. The press was her supply when Charles and the BRF cut her out of their lives or she drained them of anything they had left. Her reliance on her sons was cut off once they were in boarding school and in my view it is clear that she could not cope with either having lives of their own. The press was her one constant source of convenient attention/supply and there is no way she could have possibly mellowed. She was not a publicity junkie in that she liked being the center of attention, she just needed adulation they supplied since she did increase their sales. It says a lot that her choices in men were men who were frankly put, losers. Charles was the best of a bad lot, but she chose badly as an adult woman when she was supposed to remain faithful to her husband. Point in place, Hewitt; she dropped him once he developed a responsibility toward his military duties.

Aside: This is what it's come down to now. Very scary! To think PH is that gullible to believe that rubbish. They are nothing alike except that they do like to be centre of attention, be adored more than the Queen (when the Queen was alive), be number 1 etc. Even though both have mixed up personalities MM is a narcissist. I consider Diana was manipulative but wouldn't think she was in the narcissistic league as MM. MM has been seeking media attention way before she met PH. She wanted the worldwide coverage. Diana did court the media and once she let them in there was no going back. It is clear some of the information in the press is inside (not the Palace) but in the Sussex camp leaks. I believe MM does a good job of leaking things to the media. It also helps with the 'hounded by the media' so that she can get PH to think she is another Diana being chased by the media.
