Chin up, KF. I hope you can hold on to a simple truth in life, that everybody gets what they deserve...in the end.

There have been times in my life that I thought there was no justice under the sun, but in looking back, there is. Really. But it never comes the way I expect, that's the fun part.

Quick story: My late husband's sister-in-law sued my husband's brother for her husband's accident on a three wheeler to the tune of $5M. They took it to court, eventually, and won more than $7M. After that? They lost everything and came to both brothers for money because they lost it all, which included my husband and me for money, on my husband's death bed. I've never had a better moment in my life than slamming the door in her face as he died.

Was it the Christian thing to do? Yes. It was Rick's wish and I honored it. Karma, buddy, Karma.

I forgot. My son went outside after I closed the door and they asked what they should do since they'd spent all this money coming from south Carolina and when Paul (my son) came in to ask me (what should I say, mom?), I said, "Tell 'em to enjoy Sea World."

They understand the concept of a billion, right? I don't think so.

From a financial standpoint, you can't have on article (from another thread) that makes it quite clear that the fiscal legs of the UK are weak, at best, and the wedding did nothing but add to the problem. Then, you look at the actual numbers they're expecting in donations in the US from this stupid trip to CA and, from experience, those are appallingly low numbers from what is capable of generating. They're at a jaw-dropping $2M (sarcasm) now, and title this article Billion Dollar Brand? A billion dollars, people is 1,000 MILLION.

I don't mind PR. I understand it and accept it and read between the lines, then move on. What this is becoming is propaganda and I really find it scary. I really do. Lull the masses while you pick their pockets is a crime and enormously unfair to the people of the UK and the USA.

I think the PR man at the Palace was torn away from a peaceful Sunday with the family to counter the hostility which has greeted the story on the DM on this same thing. I now see the story has disappeared from the front page of the DM website and when I found it the comments are sort of showing just the last six. At around the same time this story popped up across on the Telegraph.

The alarms must have sounded all over the Palaces today and someone was given an ear bashing to go and sort it...now! They are defending the indefensible.

Yooper you are quite right this is propaganda not just straight PR. The comments on the DT whilst not as numerous are indeed mainly hostile again but I am sure that the Palace have a few people who post on both the DT and the Times to shore up their PR.

There is so much rubbish in this story such as Visit Britain saying the Royals generate £500 million in visitor revenues. This is not strictly correct - the Royal and Historic Palaces generate this amount and includes places like the Tower of London, Hampton Court, Greenwich etc etc which haven't had a Royal presence for centuries.

They also seem to have neatly avoided the little matter of the charity not actually being open for business yet. This story is what it seems an excuse for the newlweds to have a jolly in TinselTown and play top level polo with the super rich.

Of course the organiser has been indundated with interest. These are people who have so much money they don't know what to do next. They've mingled with leading business people, world financiers, Hollywood superstars the only group they haven't met is the Royals. And these two are a novelty being young and newlywed.

Further the Cambridges aren't actually generating any income. Funds raised for a charity that has yet to exist will then be distributed to other charities minus the £450k pa costs. This is not generating inward investment, jobs or business development. Charity is fast becoming a dirty word. It used to be about doing serious good for altruistic reasons now it seems to be highjacked by the super rich to make them feel better and to give them somwhere to wear their expenses threads.

Doubt that, wherever I go Memorabilia is still there at 10% of the price with stakes left. ^^TB - You have nailed a point that I take as just 'what is' but you wisely put it out there. Charitable donations and inward investment, job generation and distribution of wealth in the public sector are two separate planetary systems. For them to try and marry these two concepts can mean only one thing: Damage Control (or idiocy).

The 'charity' that hasn't even been solidly founded yet is going to be a long, long, long system of growth before it ever does anything that can be finger-printed. It will indeed be spread out and it has to be offset by a cost analyst. To not understand this just makes my head spin.

They are carelessly and foolishly throwing numbers around for the sake of saving face and in the process, tearing down any thought of credibility! Sure, the people of Santa Barbara have a lot of money. And they'll snicker and write a paltry (to them) check, but they're far savvier than this bunch and already know it. IF they had done this properly, which would have been to plan this for a year from now and built up relationships and gone through government channels and been sanctioned and in place? They could've done a lot of good not only for the charitable entity, but for the overall impact on the economy in the UK. With an infrastructure in place ahead of time (it's possible, if planned) it would have created at least some jobs in the private sector. Admins, professional fundraisers, advisors, rental of office space, connections with private fundraisers (like myself) in the US who would work for them and a mutual understanding of the goals would have been visible, and accepted openly.

This? This is an insult to development and fundraising and should be used as a boiler plate for every person studying to get their CFRE on how NOT to start up a foundation.

Mousiekins I have seen unsold Wedding tat absolutely everywhere. I really doubt all of these figures. This is propaganda befitting Dr Goebbels. I've a good job to put in a compliant to the Press Commission and just see what's said. They'll back them up but they shouldn't be getting away with such sycophantic and misleading drivel.

One shop I went in had some of the higher class sort of porcelain and I asked how it was selling and the girl behind the counter lowered her voice and said there was no interest.

How were they ever worth tenms of millions to charities they haven't done any charity work - well PW has done a bit (not massive) and she has done niet, zilch, nothing.

Mind you they have been getting an absolute pasting over their similarly unquestioning support over David Cameron and giving billions in Foreign Aid. That's been a cracking yarn and the comments have been priceless.

You know there is a big problem with these two. Unless something dramatic happens PW will not inherit the throne for decades. I predict they will have an increasingly pointless and lavish existence along the lines of Princess Margaret and (as quite a few are now saying) the late Windsors. Unless soemone really takes a grip of the situation and realises the only way to shore up the Monarchy is along the lines of George V1 and HM. Dull, hard working and low profile.

It's damage control. I throughly agree with your assessment of how it should have been done. If they had set this up with a view to supporting next year then they wouldn't be facing disaster. Who said this was tacked on as PW and WK had agreed to visit the Beckhams prior to the wedding and this has been developed around it? I think they are on to something there.

It also shows they have scant regard for the intelligence of the general public.

Propaganda, and that is exactly what this is, if they are filtering information to sell a certain idea, needs to be fought against with everything in your arsenal. Once it starts, it's hard to contain. I took a course in journalism in college and one of the things I remember most was that people read an article's headline and the first paragraph or two, if you're lucky. The Truth is farther down or on the back page when propaganda hits the presses.

A controlled media is a dangerous thing and I have to ask myself, WHY? Why are they doing this? WK/PW aren't running for any office or position of world power or dominance? What's the point of trying to convince people that they're money cows when they are clearly not? I mean it. I really want to know because somebody's working around the clock to keep the eye on the prize, and dam# the consequences.

Yooper, the Palace is getting scared; there is a BAD economy out there and it's been getting worse and worse and worse and worse and there seems to be an intense undercurrent of hatred lately for the irresponsible politicians and the RF is a frequent scapegoat for the nation's problems. When things get worse (and I am sure they will), Kate and William are going to be about, running around with forty outfits and a jet that will take them to the wealthiest circles and Kate will be hanging out with social climbing celebs. Kate has a huge backstory of idle living and this is the worst possible thing to do. If Kate and William do go to California, they might as well not go bac kto Britain. There is no way that this is in any way justified.

Let's assume the VP and Mrs. Biden are looked upon as diplomats and representatives of our country and head out to, oh, let's say, the Soviet Union and expect that our country will pay the bill for it. BUT, they decide to go to the Black Sea and not meet any heads of state or communicate in any way, but just want to hob nob with the upper crust at some outdoor events, fancy dinner one night and get loads of pictures taken. And, well, let's throw together a foundation that they will support and expect money just because they're there.

How long would it take for the US citizen to storm the White House? Maybe one day - we do have to fly or drive in.

True. But, no matter how much the press pushed this, at some point, there has to be a connection with the head of whatever country you are visiting, to make it legit on a diplomatic level. To completely bypass DC or NY or even Chicago, the home of our President, or to have authorization from Sacramento and say, I dunno, 'howdy' to our Governor in California, would never, ever get past the media. They'd make Biden into shredded wheat.

But, these two just think 'California! Fun!'. Then, every poor shmuck in BP or SJP or wherever they are have to work triple-time to make this sound legitimate and all it ends up sounding like is a First Class Mistake. They can slice this pie however they like it, but it's still a cow pasty. The language that they use astonishes me.

And, for the love of all that's holy, to bring our State Department in was, to me, the last straw. The US State Department (federal) must be scratching their collective heads wondering why they are suddenly responsible for the security of private citizens (which they are here) from another country who are neither diplomats nor heads of state. Somebody 'splano that to the State of California.

So, to say that they are a billion dollar 'brand' is elusive, at best. It will cost more for our country to police the papz than it will ever bring in as any depository to the US or the UK. It's total baloney and I would have enormous respect for the powers that be, to cancel this leg, for now, and claim amnesia for all I care. Use the Fact of the deficit. Use whatever means are available, but cancel it. Billion dollars, my aunt fanny. The only thing I purchased throughout this whole mess were two barf bags and a 'wedding' mug that has PH and KM on it. And China made money on the second, and a really sharp UK lady made a few bucks on the first. That's IT.

The guy is hauled in to the main station and questioned, endlessly, for no reason whatsoever and subsequently sues the LAPD and the City of Los Angeles of Santa Barbara or Santa Monica for police harassment and wins, which will cost we, the taxpayer about $15M. THAT's California, people. And just because these two don't want photos? Puuhleeeeez! That's what Wasty lives on, like tiger's blood.

Royals need press that is part of the reason they exist. If you don't have press how are they to promote charity?

Royals need the press more then they need the Royals.

What I would love is for a repeat of something that happened to the Queen decades ago, there was a complaint at the press (which I cannot remember) and the next time she went out as soon as she walked up every camera was put down and noone took a picture of her.

I would love for that to happen to Kate and William on this trip or just any time soon. If they don't want papz fine lets see if that is what they really want

I think you're quite right; there will also be teenyboppers out there that will want to take photos and I am quite sure that the police won't arrest kids for trying to get photos of the Dimwit Duo. If someone gets arrested or cited by the police, all it will take is one ambitious lawyer and then it will be open season on an overworked, overstressed police. Secondly, the police have no business being ordered by these two who they should and should not arrest.

Exactly. All this is propaganda, pr, someone trying to stop the alarms going off. I don't see how these two can generate much industry when the BBC won't even reveal certain things about wedding costs (that's a big tell) and as far as ratings attraction, they were less than stellar all around on every network, none matched Pr.Charles and Diana. Even Sophie and Edwards ratings beat this couples viewers for the two network cable airings they had in 1999(and they had no publicity or little.)
Also all that weding-tat is still sitting on shelves I've seen so many half price things thrown in sales bins with even more marked off to try and sell it.
The PR men behind Pr.William will try their best to portray him as the new Royal Golden Fleece, but I can't see that happening, not the way it did with Diana and Pr.Charles and when Diana was on the World stage alone. These two will attract a ton of press in US, when in LA and they will be shoved down throats non-stop during the tour, but Pr.William and Kate just don't have the charisma to carry off years of rapturous attention from the public.

Even Kate's dress sales are inflated, they do sell, but it's usually whatever was leftover in the stores stock and several dresses are purchased by magazines for promotion and still others are bought by merchants to sell at an inflated price on Ebay.

The one thing that does sell a bit is the tabloid covers, with Kate and William on it, one month it was Anorexia-Kate, this month it's "WILLIAM'S WIFE SNAPS!!! so yes some things sell.

Diana was a walking one woman industry for the media, making them millions and millions and simply selling everything from someone's name to photos. In terms of magazines sold alone, she made millions. Kate and William are not a multi-billion pound industry, not even millions. When Diana married the nation's businesses were not closed and that is how so many millions were made for businesses and back then, television/MSM had a main monopoly on transmitting information. These days the MSM no longer has a monopoly and the magazine industry is becoming fairly obsolete.

Goingback to the original link there was something niggling me and it is Andrew Morton's story that PW and Waity moved into Balgove House. There is Balgove Cottage at St Andrews but I do know for certain that he rented Strthyrum House which is right next to the Old Course Hotel and Golf Course. He is a friend of the owner. By coincidence I do know someone unconnected who once hired it for a very upmarket golf holiday and indeed that's what it functions as now.

As to PW bringing in a huge table (why would he need to there's one there) and Waity cooking venison - there would be a cook on hand unless she was pretending to be a houswife again.

Hi MK :hi: I really don't know why he moved out of "Sally's" and into Strathtyrum but an educated guess would be the following - PC would be paying and the house would offer the standard of accomodation when he and/or HM would visit; they would have hired the entire estate and the cottages (both two bedroomed) would be useful for extra staff or security and also could be left empty to ensure privacy; but more than anything I think PW has far more in common with PC than is recognised and he had probably had enough of student digs and mingling with plebs and he could now have his own "court".

I did originally think the Midds were stumping up the rent (and they may be sharing it) but I suspect PC was the leaseholder for the duration of PW's stay.

No wonder Kate wouldn't let go. She would have seen this beautiful house and the lifestyle and know it was her main chance to live a life of privilege and unbridled luxury. If AM is correct though (and no reason to doubt) she was viewed as little more than housemaid and be warmer.

I kind of understand now why the RF is so lowkey; William was foolish to have her move in with him into such privileged surroundings and not think that she would not be affected by it. As for the housemaid and bedwarmer part, I think you're certainly right about that. It's one thing to have a mistress, but quite another to get rid of them; they never go quietly into the night and Kate would not have liked being on the wrong side of the red carpet, seeing William go off with another woman to a prestigious ball.

There's no doubt in my mind that WK has been guided right along by her mom on how to hook PW since she did it herself. The Midd's knew how to con PW into their lives since Diana died & learned more than they should about the RF & WK & clan will open their mouths in a heartbeat. PW must be going through living hell w/ his whiner wife because everything changed since he put the ring on her finger, but he made his bed & now he has to sleep in it.

How long before the sh*t hits the fan is the question.

Hi MK. I will get to the bottom of this one. Balgove is the name of the part of St Andrews that the Strathyrum Estate is on. There are only three places they could have stayed - two 2bed cottages called Balgove Cottages on the Strathyrum Estate or the main house.

This story below is from the Scottish Daily Record and stats Sallys then Hope Street then W, KM and two others moved into a four bed cottage at Strathyrum which has to be both cottages together.

However there is an issue with this and that is where do the bodyguards go? And where did HM and PoW stay and where in two modest cottages did PW find the space to bring in a table to seat eight for black tie dinners and the kitchens would have to be fairly decent to cope with such. I was told it was the main house so I'll try and have a hunt around tomorrow for some evidence...or not as the case may be. :help:

Well I couldn't give up on this tonight so I have had a really good look at the Strathyrum Estate web site

In particular the self catering cottages. It's one building but divided into two two-bed cottages one on the lower floor the other on the upper floor.

There's the Edenview on the first floor with two double bedrooms and dining area for six
(see floor plan)

And Balgove Cottage which has a twin bedroom and a double (but contradicts itself by saying each room has a double bed and then shows a pair of twin beds). However both together seem to consitute Balgove Farm.
This cottage has dining space for just four and both properties have a bed settee for occasional visitors in the lounges.

Now this means there is indeed a bedroom each for each student but where do the detectives go? Silly of me of course if one of the couples are sharing a bedroom from the off then the detectives can use the spare twin room. However I doubt HM or indeed the PoW would use the sofa beds (LOL) and there's hardly much room for a grand eight seater dining table but it is quite feasible they could have used these properties with the main house for back up VIP guests.

I have just found this in the Express which says he chose the farmhouse over the main house but it isn't adding up is it?

Further I was assured from someone who knows he stayed in the main house. It also says there were bedrooms on the first floor and a double bedroom on the second floor but according to this layout there isn't a first or second floor but there is a completely independent flat on the top floor which confirms they were on the ground floor so that means there is an even smaller area for an eight seater dining table.

You know what I bet this is more flipping spin. Down-to-earth Prince eschews the splendour of the mansion for more humble accommodation.

And the seven bedrooms sleeping up to 13 in the main house would give a room each for four students and the three other rooms would each take two detectives. Sorted. He was in the main house...it's all fluff and spin.
