Just chiming in here: I've heard Lanvin say some complimentary things regarding Kate. In fact, she had said that she was willing to give Kate a chance too.

I wonder about the real public interest. She is crossing the street with only a female bodyguard beside her. Of course there are extra security people in the vicinity but still... you would think she would have like 10 bodyguards like Jennifer Lopez...

And what's the deal of that shot of hers sitting in the hairdresser's chair? Such posh salons have individual rooms where high profile clients can have their hair coiffed in complete privacy. But Kate gets a kick out of being photographed through the window ... not that I care but she's doing the opposite of what PW wants her to.

The ones that guard the RF are a lot more highly trained to deal with things other than masses of fans. LIke when Diana was with Dodi; Dodi's guards were surrounding them and relaying information, but a guard wasn't in the car ordering the driver to slow down or overrule what Diana or Dodi wanted. Jones was there to follow orders, not make decisions that would have saved lives. If a professional royal protection officer had been there, as has been stressed, then the guard could have ordered the driver to slow down and if Diana had thrown a fit, the palace would have carpeted Diana and the officer would have been commended.

Celebrity bodyguards are in the mix, while royal guards are trained to blend in and take a step back and pay attention to all that is going on around the meelee. It's also a matter of how high profile the person is; Wall Street tycoons usually don't have masses of bodyguards aroudn them all the time and they are worth billions. As for public interest, Kate isn't really the same in regards to interest level as Diana was; the public is used to her and interestingly, the people of London are used to famous and powerful people in their city so it's not like she's in a city that isn't used to anyone high profile.

She's also not as high profile/famous/powerful/interesting that photos of her fetch a high price. Diana was all of those things (with her power stemming from her fame appeal) and Kate is also not young.

I've been able to understand what's behind your negativity June, prior to now, yet Lanvin has me a bit perplexed, as she refers to Kate as evil and then is superficial in her criticisms, throwing in the nicknames and teasing, etc. that only distracts from the deeper points she alludes to. ...

In today's photos of Kate driving away from home, her hair seems to be in a chignon. I think this is a far more flattering and sophisticated style for someone of her age and her future role. I hope she doesn't wear her hair loose on her wedding day - she could end up looking like some latter-day Ophelia which would not be a wise choice.

Kate's problem: she is extremely unadventurous, and an absolute bore. It's the press that depicts her to be an active outgoing woman, but many of the adventurous women I know don't wear their hair the same way every day. They don't wear the same boring things every day. They don't pretend to do the same things every day. Instead, they lead an honest and true life that won't betray who they are to themselves. Kate The Imposter will one day see the only person she's been trying to fool is herself.

). I try to be fair with Kate, and I'm used to being objective, but I know that I'm slipping a bit at times here, not giving Kate the benefit of the doubt. Though, as stated, I will compliment Kate on her looks if I think she looks nice. It's Kate's inner ugliness, IMO, that I cannot bear. Otherwise, I think she is pretty in an average way (needing her long hair and lots of makeup), but in no way beautiful or stunning. She can look quite striking though when she's all dolled up.

LP: you are most welcome. kisss I thought that some of your posts may have slipped EA's notice (EA: that's easy to do with this forum getting more voluminous).

Perhaps I've not articulated my perspective succinctly. I just happened to stumble upon some nasty commentary on the internet that's all. And such is why I said don't shoot the messenger. Here is a tip: there is one blogger, in particular, who I will state in this open forum, has been STALKING me and others for years, and is quite unhinged. I've had to legally threaten her numerous times. So, I think you have the wrong end of the stick here, frankly.

I won't engage in any more of this publicly since it's dragging down a great forum, to the level of many others.

You are American? Well, it may be easier for you to not be emotionally vested in this union. For those of us as citizens of the Commonwealth, it's not so easy. The thought of Kate being my Queen is unpalatable to me and many others and I will be making my thoughts very clear at the time of the referendum.

Yooper is also American, I know, and I cannot speak for her.

I'm not quite sure how I got involved in this, June, but I can say that no one has harrassed me...yet. I do know many others who have had that unfortunate experience. I am a peaceful beach hippie at heart. I really am. Bring on the chill, y'know.

But, this whole disagreement takes us away from the real reason we're here, which is to discuss the wedding of two of the most mismatched people on the planet.

Forgive me, but I'm out of breath, so may not be making sense. My neighbor came over and we rain danced our hearts out. We do NOT believe in this and feel it's bad not only for the UK, but for the whole connection with the US/UK! Nobody wants that twit on our borders, and I mean Wasty. She's an embarrassment to people we revere for their cool heads and calm demeanor and, frankly, more elegance than maybe we have.

I'm all about peace and understanding and truly care about the people from the UK I've met here who have taught me a great deal I didn't know. I was much more ignorant than when I came aboard and am grateful and found super terrific people. That's cool, isn't it? And if we can see, globally, how wrong this union is, that brings us together to weather the storm. That's my only stance.

Anything else is detrimental to The Cause. So, I choose to rain dance with my friends, for you guys, and annoy you with my videos because I don't know how to download music here.

Am I missing something here because I usually do. I know there's conflict among my friends and there shouldn't be. It's a waste of energy and I believe in that Cause, to rid people of any kind of unfair and unhealthy and fiscally damaging futures.

I think that we are all critical thinkers. And, as one of the highest of intellectual and fair minds in my country will tell you: that is a GOOD thing. We need people to think independently, to question, to challenge, to dissent. It is what defines a democracy, what differentiates it from a dictatorship, Communism and what works towards changing what is wrong. In Australia, we need a Bill of Rights, like the US, for example.

Now, those who adore Waity, to my mind, mainly admire superficial things, and when they don't, there doesn't seem to be any substance or critical thought as to why they think her so virtuous. I don't get it, but I can only guess that living with rose-coloured glasses on, in the land of fiction, fairytales and make-believe is far easier than reality (which is what it presents to me). :dontknow:

I cannot, however, agree with you enough that Wasty is completely superficial and I live in the land of the mega superficial and even they wouldn't do what she's doing. Maybe she's living in a fantasy world, maybe she's dreaming things that I don't understand, but the bottom line is that she is one expensive broad who hasn't a clue to what she's doing. Not does she listen to advice, which will, in the end, be her downfall. You are either a dreamer or a realist. She's trying to be both and will fail. Pragmatically, she wants all the fancy trappings and the vision of being a princess, but, pragmatically, she's gotta work her a## off and I don't think she's made of that sterner stuff. When the rooster crows, she'll be under the covers, wondering what she has done and will blame everyone but herself. I am convinced that she's a clinical narcissist. Nasty thing, that. Very manipulative and PW was the perfect victim.

I agree wholeheartedly about Waity: her duality is something that I find really unnerving. Passive-aggressive, perhaps, or just duplicitous? :dontknow:

IMO, narcissism is rife in the Middleton family and goes back to Carole's own mother, according to reports. :rolleyes:

I don't get that mentality of "I want, I want, I want, therefore, I shall have". :sigh:

Narcissists, true narcissists, end up either alone or under the care of someone who loathes them. I truly believe she's clinical with it. I still remember the story from NY where she pushed her way to the front of the line and was refused service and threw everything on the floor, demanding dismissal of the cashier. She was ignored. But, that's NY. She's an emotional mess but as long as everything goes her way, the world is full of unicorns and rainbows. It's when the real world hits her that she'll cave. Maybe she'll never see the real world anymore until, as usually happens, the person closest to the narcissist, gets turned off and retreats for personal survival. She's a sick puppy, guys. I asked my own grief analyst and she said, "She will die emotionally without constant gratification and needs counseling immediately."

PW will abandon her and it will be SO f'ing ugly I can't even begin tell you.

You owe me no apology in any way, shape or form. :flower:

:- Im stunned, totally. Her pompous, grandiose sense of entitlement - and delusion, IMO - knows no bounds.

Kate doesn't understand reality, IMO. Not yet, but she will, even in that gilded cage, just as Diana found out: marrying in the BRF and becoming a princess was not a fairytale.
