Hospitalized in Feb, I was surprised he came home at all. Thankful, HM got a few more weeks to wrap her head & heart around what was coming more inevitably and swiftly than she would have thought. No doubt he is practicing Dontopedalogy up there. Condolences to all in the UK who loved/respected him.

Rest in peace Prince Philip.
Very sad news.
Thoughts are with HM, The Queen.
That is a great photo of the Duke (first post).

Even though she is very sad with Philip's passing, this is a very pretty pic of Sophie. These two would do a much better job than the Cambridges as monarchs.

I think Philip lived a privileged life, but it was just miserable in a lot of ways. He didn't have a real home of his own until he married and then he was abused as some kind of kept man who was controlled by his wife, but his role of consort is NOT like that of a regular man who is bought and paid for by his rich wife. Then there was the Queen Mother, then Fergie and Diana (who took a wrecking ball to the only stable/secure situation in his life) and then this for the past ten years. I sincerely think that he was a HUGE asset to HM and was her soulmate. I mean really, he did all he could to help her along and while he was insufferable at times, he had a lot of pain that he needed to get out. IT wasn't a waste though. He did great things and did EVERYTHING a consort was supposed to do. Now HM has to face 70 years without her mainstay and he will be missed.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9471993/Prince-Philips-close-family-Germany-isolating-Ascot-funeral.htmlThree of Prince Philip's German family will attend funeral and are isolating in Ascot before service after Duke said he wanted 'blood' relatives represented Only 30 mourners are permitted inside St George's Chapel on Saturday afternoon in line with Covid rules It means a tenth of the congregation paying tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh will be coming from Germany Prince Philip's cousin and two nephews who will attend the funeral described it as 'an incredible honour' By ROBERT HARDMAN FOR THE DAILY MAIL PUBLISHED: 17:27 EDT, 14 April 2021 | UPDATED: 17:46 EDT, 14 April 2021 Aside: Good on you, Sir, good on you. They were all denied a place at his wedding, thanks to post-war nervousness at Buckingham Palace. But for the rest of his life, the Duke of Edinburgh was adamant that bygones should be bygones.
That is why he made it clear that he wanted his 'blood' family — the network of German nieces, nephews and cousins to whom he was devoted — to be properly represented and included in his funeral arrangements. And so they shall be.
For I learn that two great-nephews and a cousin are currently locked in a Covid-compliant bubble at the Berkshire home of a mutual friend ahead of Saturday's funeral.
