Sorry for the double post, but I am really fed up with how royals are setting an example that university is a place where playtime for them is allowed. William went to uni and ruined his life from thereon and it is clear that there is no chance of a 'normal' life so it is clear that this is just playtime for them. William got exposed to a much more seemingly easy way of life and hasn't grown out of it and it is clear that with this pandemic still going on, the royals refuse to accept that this is not the time for playtime. Amalia is just going to be a disruptive presence (security/other arrangements) and they don't belong there, there is no real place for them. They'll never fit and they'll never belong among kids who are there to educate and get training for a concrete profession. Her profession is now fully mapped out and she has no need to learn on campus, she already has limitless resources to get the best education that the world can provide and it is clear that this is all just some silly joke to her. If she wants to break away from palace life, she should go work and live in a foreign country and get her education online and from the best tutors that her family's billions can provide. She does not belong on a university campus, she does not belong in university. Playing at being one of the plebs is a HUGE slap in the face considering that a lot of them are living in frightening times and she chooses not to do anything for any of them and it is clear that she could if she wanted. She could easily snap her fingers and the best tutors in the world would gladly teach her and she could get trade and income brought to her people. Playing at being a regular student in a local coffee shop is an insult to the real thing and it is clear that she isn't facing certain hard facts about her position. At eighteen, she (like Prince William) should be taking on more, not taking on less. She's a legal adult and a future Sovereign and oddly, she is still determined to skive off and shirk her responsibilities. This would be a PERFECT chance for her to step up and drop the BS and yet she refuses. The money paying her tuition isn't even her money, it's taxpayer money. It's not her money to play around on. Everything she and her family has comes from someone else and it's time she started giving back! You never have to worry about double posting here. Agree, university isnt playtime. Parents work their entire lives to pay for those opportunities for their children. Step up or shut up.

I think for William/Harry and the most recent generation, this is just one big game fro them. University isn't 'real' to them, neither are the struggles of their people. I also think that if these recent generation of royals had been better raised, better raised to focus on the realities of their situation, they would whine a lot less. I am NOT saying that misery and suffering is the only way to gratitude, but they are not being required to choose between royal life and pleb life. If Amalia wants to play at uni, she should relinquish her titles and limitless budget, have her tuition paid, and MAKE her work her way through school if she wants extras. No maxing out the bank account to jet set and she has no right to play at being anyone other then herself. She should also be made to work at the university office to groom her for working within any system she finds herself. Champagne and caviar for herself is such a slap in the face right before going to school and kids there should know that she's training for helping them, not slumming it. She has no right to play around. I have no idea if the Dutch nation is experiencing shortages, but she should be prepped to keep supply lines open and goods coming in, not sipping a latte and pretending to be 'just like everyone else.'
In my view, if William wanted to go to uni, he should have been banned from being able to use his privileges while he was at school. He never should have been allowed to jet set all over when he would have plenty of time for that later. If Amalia isn't studying anything practical for her position, she has no business being at uni (not that she belongs there in the first place).

www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1523208/royal-news-princess-amalia-netherlands-biography-abolish-monarchy Royal bombshell as princess makes stunning 'abolish the monarchy' call ROYAL watchers have been left stunned after Princess Amalia, the heir to the Dutch throne, gave candid statements in a biography released ahead of her 18th birthday. By TERESA GOTTEIN MARTINEZ 07:54, Thu, Nov 18, 2021 | UPDATED: 11:33, Thu, Nov 18, 2021 If her father were to die suddenly, she explained, she would ask her mother, Queen Máxima, to step in for a few years.
She added: "But I said to my father: you just keep on eating healthy and exercising a lot."
She even confessed that if the monarchy were abolished: "I’ll just carry on with living my life."
Support for the Dutch monarchy has fallen in recent months, with increasing scrutiny over its cost to the taxpayer.

Charles had no business being in university, he had poor O and A level results, mostly C's and he left university with a very poor C in Architecture.... His handlers tried to make the university give him a better grade but were refused.

I don't think royals do that well in that kind of academic setting; a more holistic approach would be better and their lives are more 'holistic' than structured otherwise. Amalia should be in a more private setting, something less mainstream. She is not at all someone who belongs at a uni campus and she will just be a disruptive presence. Her security team will be all over the place and it is clear that she is just playing at being a 'regular student' at an age when she should be assuming more responsibilities, not less. She should be schooled in the palace, not exposed to COVID and putting herself at risk.

Her mother would have the right as Regent, but not as a Mommy Monarch; if the monarchy would be abolished, I think she would be in for the shock of her life. She really has no clue how to handle a non-royal life and her view of live is naive and simplistic.

Sounds like it. She has no idea that she might not lose the material benefits, but there would be an increase in disrespect. I am sure there are those who would get off on mistreating her and it floors me that she is nonchalant about what would be HER monarchical powers.
I really dislike how breezy she is about a lot of things, behaving as if this is all just one big joke or does not matter to her. All these people work hard to protect her and her interests and she would gladly, nonchalantly, give away a HUGE amount of monarchical power to her mother without showing any interest in asserting her position. It is also becoming clear that she has no pride in repping her people or her nation despite ALL THE HARD WORK that goes into protecting her interests. She really has no clue how hard people work to keep her on track. Does this mean anything to her?

This is almost embarrassing to have a child this un-prepared and nonchalant - yes, she doesn't seem to have any sense of duty or true empathy for concern for anybody.

This is the attitude a middle class spoiled suburban brat would have towards running the family business, not something like this. It says a lot that a crown princess would in fact end up being this completely and utterly unprepared and almost indifferent. It is such a slap in the face that it is clear that none of this seems to mean anything to her and the fact that she is breezing off for fun time at uni shows just how idiotic she is. Like William, playtime at uni is just around the corner and meanwhile her classmates will be worrying about so much while she breezily plays for the next four or so years. Then a 'gap year' where she has even more fun. If I were her future classmates, I would be seething about how she clearly takes none of her responsibilities seriously.

It seems she has inherited her father's nature - louche, dim-witted, petulant and a tad stupid? Never has a future Queen Regnant been this unprepared, self-centred and stupid. I bet her illustrious ancestors are rolling in their graves, thinking that their efforts/sense of duty now mean squat. Times of toil, trying to survive through times of occupation and war, etc...the Dutch have gone through a lot to build their country...but now, party time!

Every day is party time when you have billions in oil and taxpayer money; Willem was allowed to be raised as a trust fund kid, not as a prince where there are boundaries and things he has no right to, like 'working' as a commercial pilot when he should have been getting education and training as a sovereign who is supposed to be able to step in and genuinely help as a king when times are terrible, like this situation.
As for this dolt princess, I wonder how long she would last socially and otherwise if the monarchy did in fact end. She might enjoy a plush lifestyle, but she would likely start experiencing hostility that has long been suppressed, she would likely experience rudeness in ways that she has not and bullying that happens only after she would lose the "HRH" nimbus. Fergie and Diana were protected from active press abuse, but after they lost their official royal status, the media went after them in ways that shocked both women and while both lived privileged lives, they lost a lot of the courteous treatment that they were used to receiving. If she lost her royal status, she would be no different than any other useless socialite and she would likely get maltreated in terms of coverage and if she tried to assert boundaries, the press will just make it worse for her. Think of it like a woman who has ruined herself and the men know and thus treat her accordingly. There is no way that Amalia would handle media disrespect breezily since she would experience the culture shock of not being able to fight back.

Along with her sisters Princess Alexia, 16, and Princess Ariane, 14, Catharina-Amalia spent the early years of her life at Eikenhorst Villa in Wassenaar, an affluent suburb of The Hague.
'We do our best to be really with them – on holidays or weekends or even at breakfast in the mornings,' Willem-Alexander once said in an interview.
The family enjoyed days out cycling and to the beach, and holidays to Maxima's home country of Argentina.
However life changed in 2013 when Amalia's grandmother Queen Beatrix abdicated and Willem-Alexander ascended the throne. The new king and queen moved their daughters into Huis ten Bosch, the royal palace in The Hague.

Maxima's home country is the Netherlands, not Argentina anymore and a part time job at a cafe, how dumb and high risk. I really do resent that they play at being blue collar workers and this is just a slap in the face. Maxima is not Argentinian anymore, she is a Dutch consort and at fifteen she really should have been getting tutors to get and keep her on track in regards to her responsibilities with public service and civic duty. She should also have been at fifteen at least fully aware that sounding like an airhead wouldn't do her any favors. She really should have been building connections with her people and with government officials and then preferably doing minor tours around the nation to build memories with her people. She should have been getting training in business and other actual qualifications and doing regular appearances. She is pathetically incurious about her nation and like most apparent mediocrities, she is clearly someone who is not at all clued in. As an American, I find it stunning since we all have kids in this nation (United States) that would gladly take up the mantle if they had the qualifications and the chance. Yet this pudding of a teenager is admitting that she is not ready and is clearly diffident at best towards her role. If any daughter of a member of congress in the US said that, it would be a huge side-eye moment. In fact, if any American woman said that she didn't view an impending position as a big deal, it would be a huge humiliating moment. Yet this dolt is talking about working in a cafe and not liking being noticed and meanwhile her nation is struggling with this pandemic and she is showing no interest in doing ANYTHING to help. This is such a slap in the face to the Dutch people. I do not know the details of the Dutch economy, but clearly, there are surely tensions and anxieties as with everywhere else.

No mask and Maxima is pretending to be a 'serious' queen; not bad for a trustfund salesgirl in finance.
