Anything where there is a void in their life or their skill set. There is more to royal life than a degree and straight -A's. Just because William has a degree, it does not mean that he is a well cultivated gentleman who is able to behave well in appropriate settings. Charles is a classical gentleman and despite his private messes (which is in the past) it is clear that he can converse well in a wide variety of cultural topics and it is clear that he is received in the set that has to be earned, not just obtained by birth or PR. It is clear that William is still unwelcome to being received by certain heads of state and it is clear that certain doors remain closed to royals despite the vaunted lofty position.

William should not be allowed to receive heads of state. He is not intelligent and makes stupid remarks. Remember when he met with Obama? That was so embarrassing.

Not to mention the addiction to drama; I just wish royals would stop being buffoons and straighten up like every other responsible person and get on with living their lives. Their real lives, not some messed up fantasy of 'normalcy' that they like to entertain themselves with. If William stopped the lawsuits and the asinine headlines and the shiftlessness, he would actually grow up and realize that he isn't some victim and isn't some kind of martyr to grand duty. I also wish royals would stop getting worked up about a role that is what they make of it, not at all something that they have no control over. The Dutch royals live very grandly, but their responsibilities are actually borderline nonexistent. As for the rest of them, they don't really have constrictions or duties or really much of anything stopping them from living blissfully happy lives. Like a lot of celebs, they really do think that they are more than their actual selves as people. A lot of entertainers really do think they are the messianic figures that their PR hypes them as (Bono, I am looking at you) and it is clear that they really do believe that they are just as good as those who have paid genuine dues. It does not surprise me that William is so far up himself that he really does think he stands to inherit an empire that has a sun that never sets. He and his other peers really do think that once they are at the top, they will suddenly be running more than just their own household. You see it all the time. Royals who are already 'there' socially acting like they are supposed to be taken seriously and treated as a co-ruler with the Prime Minister and it is clear that they really do think that this is still the 80's/90's when royals were still top dog. I find it insulting that they think that presidents and prime ministers should just drop everything and receive them and listen to their asinine lectures about the latest trendy cause.
I honestly think that after this pandemic, royals will be shunted into the celeb status area and they will have to claw their way out of it. No one will have any energy to talk about global warming from a royal and no one will want to really put up with William putting on his latest roadshow act when there will be a lot of people who are not going to be in the mood for him or his idiocy.

Is there any European monarchy right Now who is doing it right?

After this pandemic, a LOT will change and people will have no real patience for anything, much less royals indulging in playtime and then being allowed to mouth off to politicians and pontificate to the public (who works and pays their bills) and listen to their latest asinine speech or Twitter announcement. It is clear that people as it is are sick to the teeth with them and there really is no real place for any of them other than in celebrity culture where being an asinine airhead is applauded as long as they can keep up a facade of intelligence.

I had a feeling that royalty everywhere will be in that sector of being celebrities than being royalty. It’s going to be a long time before royalty is taken seriously again. I think it will take one person to change all of that.

I think the real issue is that royals are increasingly like that annoying friend of relative who refuses to stop partying. They think life is just one big joyride and literally cannot comprehend that people do not exist to fund that joyride. Politicians and diplomats work nonstop to maintain peace in the best of times and have to handle a lot. The last thing they should have to put up with is being lectured or talked down on by some asinine moron who has a degree and nothing else. It won't take just one person, that is too much of a load and it is clear that royals these days just do NOT want to carry any load. The royals (mis)treat the people who work for them and/or politicians as if they exist to just clean up their messes; like the jock who thinks that it's the job of the nerd to do their homework. They really do think that it's the job of the rest of the world to pay their way, while getting out of their way.

They think their words holds weight when it doesn’t and they think they can hang with intellectuals and be taken seriously without the education. Sorry but royalty is done in the 21st century until someone changes it all for the better.

If they could just 'stop acting' and start working and getting real educations and real training that include additional qualifications, I am quite certain that they would be healthier and be better off. They are fundamentally, now, celebrities with titles and they are just like Katharine Hepburn or Gwyneth Paltrow; they put on airs of being 'more' than 'just' a celebrity, but let's get real, that is what they are. They think of themselves as 'above' everything., but forget (conveniently) that their ancestors were some the most ruthless street-fighters that their world ever knew. We all know exactly what life was like before our era and it is clear that they prefer to forget and are even embarrassed at how their ancestors were. Quite honestly, if someone told me that I only had my privileges because of how my ancestors were the best at killing and pillaging and rapine, I would smirk and ask them what were they going to do about it? I mean really, that kind of blood is priceless. There is ZERO reason to be ashamed of having ancestors who were/are ruthless and it is common to be ashamed of one's origins. Celebs are like this, always covering up their pre-fame past and it is a shame. Royals are now the same and act like their ancestry has always been as soft as they are. They do not take pride on how their ancestors were the hardest and most ruthless fighters and act like there is shame in the more brutal era that their ancestors didn't just survive in, but thrived in.

Maybe now they will change the system but knowing them not and that’s going to be their downfall.

All they have to do, is stop being all 'Victorian' and start appreciating the reality that they are only as secure as they are hardworking and self sacrificing. For once. Stop acting like they can't control the fact that they set up social media accounts, stop the BS about being better solely by virtue of existence, and stop pretending that somehow they 'know more' than those who became before them. COVID has been a blessing in that it has caused a lot of people to focus on real things rather than the fantasy projection by which many of have been living their lives. COVID has simply accelerated the changes that have been occurring and a lot of people who have been working at holding society together are heartily sick and tired of being looked and talked down on by those who think they should benefit from someone else's dirty fighting and ruthless self sacrifice. Royals contributed NOTHING and celebrities are usually worse than useless during certain types of hard times. No one expects much of an entertainer, but taxpayers support royals and royals should have been stepping up and contributing in REAL ways, not this.

This was the time for royals to step up during COVID but majority of them fell flat and that has caused people to question them which is in their right. Look Spain is corrupt and the economy is horrible. I don’t see them lasting and then how evil the British monarchy is too. They need to stop living their lives like it’s the early 1900s and embrace the world we are in and modernize and actually put in the work to be respected. Sorry but there a reason why celebrities can do their work and get 100% the results.

You know, they're having degrees doesn't really mean anything since everyone pretty much has a degree and has that piece of paper. I am fed up with hearing about how Kate was the best educated consort and how Kate is so much better because she has a degree despite the fact that it was never used by her in anything. All I believe is that this taxpayer fueled joyride should end and governments need to start reviewing if whether or not royals are actually contributing to the nation. Maxima has made a complete fool of herself and it is clear that the Dutch royals are still determined to continue on their air headed way.

You know Charlotte could have broken the mold if she wanted to be a “princess” by getting educated doing Great work on behalf of her charities and Monaco and being an ambassador but she decided to be a “socialite” like why!

I wonder how the royals will take credit for the vaccines and eventual end of the pandemic? I will be amused when headlines are done lauding the royals for 'standing firm' during the pandemic. How the royals 'served tirelessly' during the troubled times.

I do think Charlotte could have broken the mold and been a great princess(by heart since she’s non titled) and being educated could help Monaco and other charity. I mean she had the fame and the following as Diana said, she wanted to use it for good. A shame she didn’t pursue it.
