To me these photos are not 'bad' - they are of a beautiful woman making comical faces.

Thanks for the pics!
I think Diana is overrated. I hated most of her hairstyles and frocks. She looks dated and stale in most of her photos; she lacks a timeless quality. I don't think she was serene or calm but rather insecure, nutty and ultimately reckless.
Of the two I prefer Kate, she comes across to me to be a more complete, self-assured person.

that's a bold and rather brave statement to make in here :-
we have a few big diana-fans in here so...
but it's good to know how you view her
frnkly i think diana wasn't perfect (far from it) but she tried to make the best of what was handed to her
i don't agree with some of her mor crafty moves over the years with using the press for her personal war with Charles (but i agree it takes two to tango soo..)
in general her work ethic and honest care for the ppl she visited as a royal is something i find better then how william and kate are running the show nowadays.

Wow, how courageous of you to sit behind a keyboard anonymously for the express reason of insulting a deceased person. You must be charming in real life.
@ akasha: I'm sorry, I know I'm out of bounds. All opinions are welcome, but I don't view this one as honestly held. Trolling jumps out at me.
William has Diana's luminous skin, lucky boy. It's stunning in real life.

insulting a deceased person
What difference does that make? Many here spend a great deal of time snarking on and insulting people who are alive.

That was my understanding as well.

Simply because my opinion disagrees with yours? Is that your definition of trolling? For the record it is my honest opinion, I've never liked Diana much and, as stated in the rules of the board, I have the right to express it as long as I'm not rude to others. I haven't been rude to you, or anyone else who does like Diana, is it too difficult to ask that you to not insult me again?

Thanks for establishing that you are disingenuous at best. Your posts initially presented as though you were immature. Why was that? :June:
Your question as to whether or not I can handle dissenting opinions is too ridiculous for me to respond. But I am not, and will never, be given to rudeness, particularly of the gratuitous kind.
Since you cannot differentiate between insulting the dead from those who are alive, there is no point in my commenting further. But I do note that you are ignorant, to add to your other "charms".
I shall respond to you in kind when I believe you are trying to stir trouble on this board. Further, if you want me to take you seriously, please don't selectively quote to suit your argument.
I am not going to comment further on the issue. I was merely responding to your initial post, which I did not, and do not, believe was honestly held.
And, further, don't try to insult my intelligence. You're just not up to the task. There are various ways to be rude to posters, not just the obvious way.

Say RedRabbit
If Diana in your view lacks a certain 'timeless quality' who does have that quality in your eyes? Grac Kelly? Audrey Hepburn? Claudia Schiffer?
Because I admit I too have issues with some of Diana's early eighties 'day looks' :dontknow: it was a weird era fashion-wise!
but she mostly dressed up well in evening wear in my opinion.
Once she got settled in KP in '92 after the split from Charles, and the overbearing palace pressure, her overall fashion sense made quantum leaps to me!

June, I did nothing to you, I have no idea why you continue to mistreat me, but I do not care. Your bullying and ongoing harassment does not reflect upon me but on you. From now on you will be ignored. Have a nice day.
akasha yes, she did look much better after the split. Her haircuts got better and her fashion choices improved. I do say the divorce did her a world of good, style-wise. For me she just lacks that timeless something, perhaps she followed the fads of the day a little too closely and I don't see anything magical in her face. Pretty but not an ethereal beauty. Yes, the women you mentioned are good examples, though not so much Claudia Schiffer. I think Dianne Carroll and Ava Gardner are also good examples of timeless.

Touché, snokitty :tehe:
Thanks for explaining your idea a bit more RR, it helps understand that you are not just here to dish on a dead woman, (which would be a bignono to me!)
You just don't like her early dress style and you're critical about some of her actions over the years, just like I am.... :shy:
Yes she had her reason's for doing some of it but in my eyes two wrongs don't make a right. it's the same thing I say about Charles as well.
They both were hard workers for the firm, but dang they made a mess out of that marriage!
but back ontopic: are there any more funny or unusual pic's of Diana out there?

Thank you akasha, I'm just here to participate and have fun, like almost everyone else.
While Diana was at her best when meeting patients at hospitals and the like, I was never enamored of her. If I didn't know who she was and had seen her walking down the street she would have been just be another skinny blonde. She just doesn't stand out to me. Even knowing who she was if she had walked past me I'd probably just shrug, if I bothered to react at all. Even though her fashion choices improved later on I still wouldn't have pointed to her as a great beauty or a style icon I'd want to emulate. Both she and Charles are culpable for what happened; their respective and very significant personality defects took a mismatched arranged marriage and blew it up into an utter disaster. Some of the things she loudly accused Camilla of doing she turned right around and did to Julia Carling and the wife of Oliver Hoare and who knows who else. I just couldn't take her whining and complaints seriously.
Aung San Suu Kyi and Katharine Hepburn are examples of women who effortlessly transcend their time. Diana just wasn't in their realm; as far as I'm concerned Diana was a product of her time and lacked the quality to transcend it.
Here's one that's a little unfortunate:

I don't know how anyone can look at pictures of Diana and say she's not timeless, or that she would blend into a crowd. She had beautiful skin and stunning blue eyes, she was very graceful and elegant. A true beauty. Whatever you think of her clothes, her physical beauty cannot be denied.
