They do not do anything, they do not sacrifice anything, they do not contribute (with the exception of Prince Charles) anything. Prince Charles created and has tirelessly sustained the Prince's Trust, but apparently that means nothing to the mainstream media that denigrates him every way from every angle. I mean really, I get it, Charles was unfaithful to the world's favorite cover girl, but that will never mean that he didn't do a lot of good before and after that mess. Celebrity culture really seems to think that people like Charles owe people like Diana a limitless tale and that isn't possible. It never has been and it never will be. Celebrity culture often has nothing to do with process, which is why that 'culture' is often shunned by more stable and practical areas of society.Thing is, that Diana's embrace of celebrity culture wrecked a marriage that would likely have worked if she had dedicated herself to more than her own glorification. If Charles had broken the habit of turning to his mistress instead of his wife when he was having marital problems, the marriage would have been saved. If Diana had dedicated herself to the Prince's Trust rather than astrologers or her own self destructive tendencies, she would have saved her marriage and ended up healthier and would be alive, be a Princess Consort, and still have it all. Celebrity culture does not acknowledge that there are always (except in cases of abuse) two sides to a marriage breakup and it is clear that Diana herself was a huge contributor. If someone is bulimic, and threatening suicide, that is something that requires being institutionalized, no questions asked. If a spouse is sometimes starting fights and going from being quiet and amiable to suddenly lashing out in ANY way, usually that means that the spouse needs help and in the meantime, the other spouse should break away until either the spouse has completed treatment or get a full divorce. There is no way that Diana would have been able to really handle any relationship responsibly and even during her later years, she was making terrible choices. Carling, Hoare, Khan, can all attest to that. Celebrity culture really does not take into consideration that people have better things to do than glorify celebrities and feel sorry for the self destructive. It makes me angry that Charles is treated like a mediocrity because he DARED not love Diana in the same way that her fans did.

Well Charles messed up with how cold he was with his own son! If you can’t treat your family right how can people think you can treat strangers right?
Also do you think royalty are using celeb culture because they know without it they will be irrelevant?

I think royals are becoming like celebs because they just DO NOT know how to step back and let someone have the moment in the sun that they themselves have EARNED! Sir Nicholas Winton was being honored in Prague for his work in saving Jewish children and it is clear that HM had no business showing up and grabbing attention from Sir Nicholas when it was HIS time to be honored for his work. It wasn't supposed to be HM showing up, getting a bow from the guest of honor and making it all about her as well as Sir Nicholas. William and Kate are nonfunctional without headlines and it is irritating that European royals keep insisting on going to social events where the persons who actually accomplished something is expected to show deference to THEM (the royals).

I think that’s why they think being Celebs royals is the way to be and I have a feeling these European royals want to have the spotlight on their monarchy like the BRF but no one really cares unless you were Grace Kelly marrying Monaco.

Royals are focused more on image than substance and it is clear that this is key. Entertainers are focused on work, but thing is, they all embrace image and the polite lie. The more royals focus on image, the more they end up forgetting about substance. Royals are human and it's okay to screw up, but it's disgusting to see the Duke of York acting all regal after knowing that he has allegedly assaulted children. Sick monster and he has the NERVE to show up at religious ceremonies. It makes me sick with disgust how Fergie acted all dignified at certain engagements, but then goes off and does the stuff she did. They need to stop the importance of keeping up appearances and work on maintaining clean lives and if it means sacrificing the occasional orgasm, so be it.

I agree it’s the obsession of the “image” that’s killing them and not making them sincere as opposed to the actual work that would differentiate them. Diana understood that she had the fame but she did use it for good and highlighting problems even if she was image conscious. She balanced it. For me a real change will happen if a newcomer arrives on the royal scene who changes the idea of royalty and being a princess or prince and sets a new standard/blueprint that’s about the country, culture and the service of others.

I think it would be better if royals would stop lying about things that are obvious to everyone and would stop just trying to fool people. If they stopped lying and manipulating even when they are caught out, it would be better. Usually if someone lies as often as royals do, they would be diagnosed as pathological liars and not at all trusted, but for some reason, we're supposed to end up trusting them and giving them chance after chance after chance. William lies about his personal life and Kate lies about starting to work and instead of just doing it, she insists on demanding more and more adulation and for people to jolly her along. She can't just dig in and do engagements, it ALWAYS has to be a big deal and it is clear that she and others are at a point where the taxpayer is little more than a money machine for their PR. All that money to sustain that life wouldn't mean anything if in fact they were bringing more than just more media hype that is more self glorifying rather than 'raising awareness.' Royals also act like they're doing someone some big favor by showing up and bringing press coverage instead of actual practical help. It makes me angry that they want others to donate instead of writing checks that will end up making a huge difference. It is taxpayer money after all and the royals are not reinvesting it into the economies of the people who send the money in, in the first place. They lie and freeload and basically want others to pay for their causes, without realizing that the taxpayer cash is something that is supposed to be used for funding those in need, not at all going into their private Swiss accounts. I also think that royals should STOP demanding more and more freedom when it is clear that they can't handle it. William has shown that he can't make decisions even when he is informed about the realities of the people he runs with and I am certain that if he would for once, just stop being stupid, grow up, and stop making the world wait on him, it would be different.

The old era/ways of royalty is dying and quite frankly it’s DEAD! There has to be a different type of royalty that’s not celebrity but that doesn’t just coast on their title and think they are above everyone else in status and privileges.
What do you think a new princess should do? I feel like a female a new princess will arise in this decade and start a new way of royalty.

I think royals should emulate politicians and diplomats. They marry stable, decent types that know the 'score' and they do not let their mistresses mess with ANYTHING. This sounds anti-feminist, but politicians keep their mistresses LOCKED DOWN and DO NOT let the mistresses mess with the wife and if Charles had emulated a politician, then I am certain that Camilla would either have been dead in Paris or still a sidepiece who was keeping her mouth shut. I can't get over how Camilla invited Diana to lunch and started putting on a front of Diana somehow 'knowing' that Camilla was Charles' sidepiece and was giving her consent. Camilla really railroaded her and I do not think that Camilla was content to be a mistress. If she had been, Camilla would have not made calls excoriating Diana or pulling half the stuff that she was. Camilla would not have undermined Diana in any area and it is clear that Camilla was never really pitying Diana at all. Royals have lost their street-fighting stamina and are all soft and pathetic. I wish princes would not the tawdry pasts of their consorts and a huge mark of royalty was being able to live things down and handling with the acceptance that not everyone will like them or find their pasts appropriate for a consort.

True! But I’m pro no mistress when married! But the prince’s should act like politicians but the princesses I say no. I think their role should be of culture/arts and humanitarianism.

Princess consorts should act like political wives; they should not be activists or worry about countries other than that of their own. No worries about the latest civil war in another third world country, just focus on the well being of their own nation and NO resume inflation. I mean really, culture and arts and social work in their country, as you said. No attempting to be on par with diplomats or their husbands. I mean really, as cold as this sounds, marriages of people who are about to engage in public service need to be equal and the wife should not have to anything.

I think the role of a princess needs to be redefined because I feel like it’s been lost and seems very celebrity like now. Focus on their country, history and fine art, humanitarianism and charities to help others who need it.

I also think that royals should be trained in social work, be required to get the actual qualification, and also work their way through school in an actual occupation that is going to require them to adhere to a concrete schedule. They should also be trained and educated in topics that involve business, finance, and law and zero access to jets or resorts. If it means signing a literal contract, so be it. No more drifting and no more grafting and they should be required to either live on campus or live alone and no new girlfriends allowed to move in. No groupies allowed and royals should be heavily educated in finance and required to learn early and well how to use their own resources. No more playing at being poor or middle class or unable to find a place to live. I honestly think that if royals got educations and loaded up on skilled trades, they would be able to handle their live better and actually spend time being on track. The real issue is that when they are not doing appearances, they are drifting around and usually causing trouble, like celebs, but with a diplomatic passport.

If I were a princess, I would be spending my time schmoozing business titans and small business owners and drowning in the library with books. I would do courses online and spend most of my time with tutors and basically load up on work experience and trade skills. I would also run with people where there are no dubious roots. One thing to run with the ruthless, but people like the MIdds? I Wouldn't run with, much less date someone who does or brings nothing and I wouldn't marry someone who would socially and economically dependent on me. I wouldn't date someone who whined about media coverage and I wouldn't date someone who I meet at random in regards to uni or a club. I wouldn't want to hang around mediocrities or people addicted to activism or addicted to 'raising awareness' or anything like that. No point and I would NOT be asking the general public for money for my causes. I would sit at my desk writing hefty checks to pay off the debt of doctors and nurses and law enforcement and also paying tuition for struggling minimum wage workers. I would provide trade based scholarships and pay trade school tuition and steer as many as I could towards trade and apprenticeships.

Wow the impact and respect you would receive would be amazing if you were a princess. I agree the whole raising awareness is fine but aren’t they rich to write a check? But I also do believe working on behalf of charities to come up with new ideas and whatnot. For me as a princess I’m all about helping those who need it and of course educating myself with business and ambassador for humanitarianism and really doing a lot for the arts of my country.

Thing is, that royals do not educate or train or network like their ancestors did. Their ancestors knew the 'score' and did all they could to make sure that various areas were taken care of and factions looked after or kept in check. They were set up in their own households at young ages so they would learn to command and handle things at an earlier age and reach out and connected from infancy. Royals should not at all be educated and trained like middle class kids or behave like trust fund kids .That isn't their money, it is taxpayer cash. That money, is NOT family money, it is tax money, government money, not THEIRS.

No wonder I’m so bored of them. Take for example, Beatrice Borromeo who is aristocratic born, who is married to Pierre Casiraghi the son of Princess Caroline of Monaco. If I was in her position, although will never be a wife of a reigning prince I sure as hell would use my resources and educate myself to be a fab ambassador for Monaco and do serious charity work across Europe. Like make something for yourself. I don’t get why these royals complain yet don’t want to do anything about their roles. This is why the era of royalty is so dead unless in my opinion a newcomer comes a change it. Heck the princesses could look to Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn for inspiration.

If for once, they would stop posing and focus more on substance, or at least not making a mess that others have to clean up, it would be different. If they would just for once, stop being such a mess. What makes me mad, is how women like Mette-Marit get the ring and tiara and start up being condescending or shirking work. MM supposedly has a fear of flying, but if it is a Paris couture show or a New York society gathering, she is all for it. I will NEVER understand why these princes marry women with serious issues, not just neurosis, but SERIOUS problems and end up taking those issues and the taxpayer has to pay for their psychotherapy. I mean really, can't these princes FIND a woman who does not at all have serious mental or emotional problems that need to be treated? Kate Middleton has likely had SERIOUS problems since she was young and I am sure the taxpayer forks over big bucks for her therapy as well. Then there are other princesses with dubious pasts or dubious ways of making their way in the world and yet they get the ring and tiara and the fawning press. I just wonder, how it must GALL others to be condescended by these women.
